The United States Federal Communications Commission has confirmed Apple's work on a new version of the MacBook Pro and several other products, leaking details on the devices ahead of launch.

The FCC published documents that reference model numbers that do not correspond with existing devices. A3434, for example, references an unreleased ‌MacBook Pro‌, while other numbers are likely for upcoming M5 iPad Pro models. The FCC doesn't include product names in the documents that it shared, but we can guess based on the model numbers of current devices, and we do already know that the A3360 model number is an M5 ‌iPad Pro‌.

With just model numbers, there are few specifications that can be gleaned from the FCC's leak, but it does confirm Apple's work on new devices. It also potentially gives us some insight into a launch timeline, as these kinds of documents are typically filed in the weeks ahead of a product's debut. We do know that the new M5 ‌iPad Pro‌ models appear to support Wi-Fi 7, while the M5 ‌MacBook Pro‌ model listed does not.

Just today, an unboxing video featuring the M5 ‌iPad Pro‌ showed up on YouTube, and rumors suggest that we'll be getting new ‌iPad Pro‌ models before the end of the year.

Apple is also wrapping up work on M5 versions of the ‌MacBook Pro‌, and mass production is set to begin soon. Refreshed ‌MacBook Pro‌ models with M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips could launch sometime between late 2025 and early 2026.

Earlier this week, the FCC also published a 163-page document featuring full schematics of the iPhone 16e, which presumably Apple did not want shared with the public.

The new Hypertension Notifications feature on select Apple Watch models was recently licensed by Health Canada, according to the blog iPhone in Canada.

The feature is already available in more than 150 countries and regions, including the U.S. and many European countries, but it has yet to launch in Canada. That should soon change, now that the feature has received a license from Health Canada.

Hypertension Notifications are available on the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, with watchOS 26 installed.

• How to Turn On Apple Watch Hypertension Notifications

The feature can alert users if signs of chronic hypertension (high blood pressure) are detected, according to Apple. Based on data from the Apple Watch's optical heart sensor, the feature can analyze how a user's blood vessels respond to the beats of the heart. The algorithm works passively in the background, reviewing data over 30-day periods, and users are notified if consistent signs of hypertension are detected.

Apple:

The feature works passively in the background during waking hours, analyzing data over discrete 30-day intervals to detect signs of hypertension. It does not require calibration, it does not measure blood pressure directly, and does not surface a blood pressure reading to users. Instead, the Hypertension Notification Feature notifies users if optical heart sensor data shows signs of hypertension after 30 days.

Apple said the feature underwent "rigorous scientific validation," as outlined in a 12-page document. According to the company, it was developed with advanced machine learning and training data from multiple studies totaling more than 100,000 participants, and its performance was then validated in a clinical study of more than 2,000 participants.

Apple says the feature is "not intended for use by people under 22 years old, those who have been previously diagnosed with hypertension, or during pregnancy."

OpenAI today announced the launch of Sora, an invite-only AI video app and social network. Sora lets you create realistic AI videos of yourself, friends, and other people.

Sora uses the Sora 2 video generation model, which OpenAI says is more physically accurate, realistic, and controllable than prior systems. It is able to generate complex movements while better obeying the laws of physics, and OpenAI says it excels at realistic, cinematic, and anime styles.

Sora 2 supports generating video that also includes audio, such as real-sounding speech, background soundscapes, and sound effects.

The AI model is able to observe a video of a person and then insert them into a Sora-generated environment while accurately portraying their appearance and voice, which is the basis for the new Sora app.

With the Sora app, you can create a video of yourself that can then be inserted into "cameos," which are short videos that are shared with others on the Sora social network. You can opt to allow other people to create cameos with your likeness as well. You can choose who can use your cameo, and you will see all videos that include cameos with your likeness, even drafts before they are published to the network.

OpenAI designed Sora to show you content based on people you follow or interact with, and the app will poll you regularly on your wellbeing. There are controls to modify what's displayed in a feed, and OpenAI says that it is meant to be used with friends. For that reason, Sora is invite only, ensuring people join the app alongside people they know.

The Sora app for iOS is available to download now, and it can be used in the United States and Canada. Those invited to the app will be able to use Sora 2 on the Sora website.

Sora 2 is free for now, and ChatGPT Pro users have access to the Sora 2 Pro model on Sora.com.

As it did with the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max, ChargerLAB has tested the iPhone Air's USB-C charging speeds with a variety of Apple chargers.

In the test, the iPhone Air reached a peak charging speed of around 18W to 19W.

For comparison, ChargerLAB found the standard iPhone 17 reached a peak of 27W to 28W, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max reached a peak of around 36W.

Like the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple says the iPhone Air can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes with a compatible 20W or higher charger. For comparison, Apple says the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes, so the iPhone Air charges a bit slower. However, slower charging also means less heat will be generated, which is good for long-term battery health.

The iPhone Air features the first redesigned form factor that Apple has come out with in several years, but it's not without compromises because of its thin design. MacRumors videographer Dan Barbera has been using the ‌iPhone Air‌ as his main device for the last two weeks to see if those compromises are worth dealing with day-to-day.

The "awe" feeling of using a lightweight, compact iPhone doesn't go away over time, and it's still a delight to use such a thin device. 6.5 inches is an ideal screen size, and even though it's a large phone, it's not heavy. If you've ever had hand strain from using a brick-like ‌iPhone‌ Pro or Pro Max, the Air will be a relief. It's just all-around easier to hold than Apple's heavier iPhones.

Unfortunately, the matte black ‌iPhone Air‌ accumulates fingerprints and smudges, which is a problem when you're using it without a case. The lighter colors like white, gold, and blue look less grimy over time. In practice, Apple's new sky blue color is such a light shade that it's almost white with just a hint of blue.

The ‌iPhone Air‌'s strong titanium frame isn't going to bend, based on multiple tests. The Ceramic Shield 2 at the front is more resistant to scratches, and the Ceramic Shield at the back also holds up better to drops. It's more durable, which is a good thing for a device you might not want to put a case on.

Apple swapped titanium for aluminum in the iPhone 17 Pro models because aluminum is better at dissipating heat, but the ‌iPhone Air‌ still uses titanium for durability. Like the titanium iPhone 16 models, the ‌iPhone Air‌ can get warm to the touch. There is a noticeable difference between the A19 Pro in the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ and the A19 Pro in the ‌iPhone Air‌ when it is under heavy load, and there is occasionally some throttling on the Air.

The ‌iPhone Air‌ has the smallest battery of the 2025 ‌iPhone‌ lineup, but some people may be able to get through the day without needing to recharge. The battery lasts longer than the ‌iPhone 16‌ battery, but it doesn't come close to the battery life you can get with the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ Max or even the 17 Pro.

Another major compromise is the camera. The ‌iPhone Air‌ has a single-lens Fusion camera, which is basically the same as the main wide-angle camera in the other iPhone 17 models. You don't get ultra-wide images, Telephoto images, or macro photos, plus there's no option to capture spatial photos and videos for the Vision Pro. If you're someone that uses more than the wide-angle lens, you might miss the versatility you get with other iPhones.

At $999, the ‌iPhone Air‌ is $200 more than the ‌iPhone 17‌ and $100 less than the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌, so it's an expensive device that does cause you to lose out on some features. It's the ‌iPhone‌ to get if you want to prioritize thin and light over everything else, but you can get more functionality by spending $200 less or $100 more.

An apparent unboxing video for an unannounced iPad Pro with the M5 chip was uploaded to YouTube today by Russian channel Wylsacom.

The same YouTube account leaked the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip before it was announced by Apple last year, so this is likely a legitimate leak.

Based on the box shown in the video, this appears to be a 13-inch iPad Pro with an M5 chip, 256GB of storage, and a Space Black finish. The new iPad Pro does not have any noticeable external design changes compared to the current models with the M4 chip, with features like a single rear camera, four speakers, and a Smart Connector still visible. At a glance, it looks like the 13-inch iPad Pro's impressive 5.1mm thinness is preserved.

There does appear to be one change: "iPad Pro" is no longer inscribed on the back of the device.

Based on the Geekbench 6 benchmark result shown in the video, the M5 chip offers up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance compared to the M4 chip in the iPad Pro. Like the M4 chip, the listing shows the M5 chip has a 9-core CPU with three performance cores and six efficiency cores. As for graphics performance, the M5 chip appears to have up to a 36% faster GPU compared to the M4 chip, based on the Metal score shown.

The benchmark result also shows the iPad Pro with 256GB of storage will have 12GB of RAM, just like the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. iPad Pro models with the M4 chip have only 8GB of RAM when equipped with 256GB of storage.

Unsurprisingly, the leaked iPad Pro is running iPadOS 26, and the Settings app reveals that the device's battery was manufactured in August 2025.

In addition to the M5 chip, the next iPad Pro is rumored to gain a second front camera, allowing you to easily use the device for video calls in both portrait and landscape orientations. The video does not seem to show a second front camera, but we shall see. Perhaps the front camera's square sensor on the new iPhones will extend to the iPad Pro.

It is likely that Apple will announce the iPad Pro with the M5 chip in October.

Apple today added the iPhone 11 Pro Max to its vintage products list. However, the iPhone 11 Pro was not added to the list yet, which suggests that Apple continued distributing that model to select third-party resellers for longer.

Despite being vintage now, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is still compatible with iOS 26.

All models of the Apple Watch Series 3 were also added to Apple's vintage products list today, a little more than eight years after the device launched.

Apple considers a device to be vintage after more than five years have passed since the company stopped distributing it for sale. Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers may offer repairs for vintage devices, but only if parts remain available.

Apple Watch Series 3 launched in September 2017, and it continued to be available as a budget option all the way until September 2022. As a testament to its longevity, the Series 3 was still being sold by Apple while watchOS 9 was in beta testing, despite that software update not being compatible with the device. In fact, the Series 3 had such a long run that Apple Watch Series 4 models were added to the vintage list first.

Last week, Amazon introduced discounts across Apple's Clear, Silicone, and TechWoven Cases for the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air lineup. Today, the retailer put a timer on each of these deals that suggests all of these discounts will disappear later tonight.

Adobe today launched Premiere for iPhone and iPad, bringing its flagship video editing software to mobile devices for the first time.

According to Adobe, the new mobile Premiere app is designed to provide "pro-quality video editing." The mobile version features an unlimited multi-track timeline supporting video, audio, and text layers. It includes standard editing features such as trimming clips, overlaying audio, and synchronizing captions, as well as access to libraries of free creative assets.

Adobe has also built in a speech enhancement tool that removes background noise to isolate voices, as well as automatic captioning with stylized subtitles. The app supports 4K HDR export and allows direct one-tap publishing to platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. Users can also generate sound effects and other creative assets using Adobe Firefly AI, the company's generative AI platform, which is fully integrated into the app.

In addition to editing on the device, projects created in the app can be transferred directly to Premiere Pro on desktop systems without conversion.

The app is positioned as a replacement for Premiere Rush, the company's previous lightweight mobile editor. Existing Rush users will retain access only on devices where it is already installed until the service is fully discontinued on September 30, 2026.

Unlike Premiere Pro on Mac and PC, which starts at $23 per month, the ‌iPhone‌ and ‌iPad‌ Premiere app can be used without a subscription. Optional features, including generative AI credits and additional cloud storage via Adobe Creative Cloud, are available for an additional fee.

Premiere on ‌iPhone‌ is available worldwide on the App Store today. Premiere on Android is in development.

Logitech today announced an updated version of its MX Master series mouse, the MX Master 4, which features haptic feedback and introduces a few other changes while remaining largely faithful to the original design.

Apart from cleaner-looking frosted buttons and a more minimalist bottom, the MX Master 4 looks very similar to the S3. The feel is, however, slightly different – the new model swaps its predecessor's soft, ribbed finish for a smooth, hard-plastic body and buttons, although there is some softer material around the right-hand side and on the surface where you rest your thumb.

The new haptic feedback delivers subtle vibrations near the thumb for scrolling, navigation, and selection. Haptics also accompany gestures and shortcuts accessed via the Actions Ring feature (now with a dedicated button under the thumb), which can be set up via Logitech's Options+ software. You also get vibrations with a low battery warning or Bluetooth pairing.

Logitech has also updated the MX Master 4's connectivity. The mouse now ships with a USB-C Bolt receiver for lower-latency wireless connections and improved security, while still supporting Bluetooth for multi-device pairing. Battery life is still claimed at up to 70 days on a full charge, and fast charging via USB-C can deliver three hours of use in just one minute.

Other improvements include quieter, more precise clicks, double the connectivity strength, and an updated MagSpeed scroll wheel that promises smoother transitions between ratchet and free-spin modes.

The MX Master 4 is available to order from Logitech's website for $119.99 in Black and Graphite Charcoal color options, with a Mac version available in White Silver and Space Black. Shipping starts early October.

After teasing a rebranded Powerbeats Fit that appeared to be an updated version of its Beats Fit Pro earbuds last month, Apple's Beats brand is officially announcing the new Powerbeats Fit today.

Calling it both an "evolution" of Beats Fit Pro from 2021 and a "new addition" to the Powerbeats family, Beats says the Powerbeats Fit bring enhanced durability and comfort with the ability to withstand intense workouts.

One of the key design features of the Beats Fit Pro was its in-ear wingtip designed to help keep each bud firmly in the ear during workouts and other activities. The Powerbeats Fit deliver a redesigned wingtip that's 20% more flexible than on Beats Fit Pro, helping it to fit more securely into a wider variety of ears. And with four ear tip sizes ranging from extra small to large, Powerbeats Fit should offer comfort for most sizes and shapes of ear canals.

Durability is also improved with Powerbeats Fit, thanks to an IPX4 rating for both the earbuds and the case, making them sweat and water resistant for workouts in a range of environments. The case is also 17% smaller than on Beats Fit Pro, making Powerbeats Fit more pocketable while still delivering an improved total of 30 hours of battery life. The earbuds themselves offer up to 7 hours of playback per charge, with a 5-minute Fast Fuel charge providing up to an hour of playback.

On the audio performance side, Powerbeats Fit feature a custom acoustic platform with proprietary drivers and an H1 chip, delivering balanced sound across the full audio spectrum. Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking is supported, and there's Adaptive EQ to tailor the sound based on your personal earbud fit. Active Noise Cancelling with Transparency mode is also included to help you with shut out or let in the world around you.

The H1 chip delivers the usual Apple connectivity features via iCloud, including automatic switching between devices, Audio Sharing, hands-free "Hey Siri," Find My support, and more. Beats is also debuting a new "They Stay in Your Ears" short film ad for both the Powerbeats Fit and the Powerbeats Pro 2, featuring NFL stars Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson, and Jayden Daniels, all of whom appeared in the Powerbeats Fit teaser last month. The new short film also stars John Higgins of comedy group Please Don't Destroy.

Powerbeats Fit are launching at the same $199.99 price point as the previous Beats Fit Pro and are being offered in four colors: Jet Black, Gravel Gray, Spark Orange, and Power Pink. They are available to order starting today through Apple's website, and they will be in stores beginning this Thursday, October 2. We'll have additional coverage of the new Powerbeats Fit in the coming days once we've had a chance to test them out.

In select U.S. states, residents can add their driver's license or state ID to the Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch, providing a convenient and contactless way to display proof of identity or age at select airports and businesses, and in select apps.

Apple recently revealed that the feature would soon be available in North Dakota, and starting today, the feature has officially gone live in the state.

North Dakota is the 11th U.S. state to offer the feature, with more to follow. Interestingly, Apple's website says the North Dakota Department of Transportation requires its residents to pay a $5 fee to obtain a mobile driver's license.

"When adding your North Dakota ID to Wallet you will be directed to make this required payment to the DOT to finish adding your ID to Wallet," says Apple.

Below, we have recapped key details about the feature and its availability.

Compatibility

To add a driver's license to the Wallet app, you need an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.5 or later, or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 9.5 or later. However, these requirements can vary for specific states and use cases.

To set up the feature, open the Wallet app and tap on the plus sign in the top-right corner. Next, select Driver's License and ID Cards and follow the steps.

Supported States

The following states offer driver's licenses in the Wallet app:

• Maryland (since May 2022)
• Colorado (since November 2022)
• Georgia (since May 2023)

Apple Wallet IDs can also be used to show proof of age or identity at select businesses and venues in the U.S., but there is no list of locations.

Opera today launched its subscription-based, AI-focused Neon browser, which joins a growing field of companies touting agentic browsing capabilities.

Opera first previewed Neon in May and is now gradually rolling out invites to waitlist members. Available to early access users at $19.99 per month, Neon aims to go beyond traditional browsing by using AI to execute tasks directly within the browser. Neon can open and close tabs, compare information across multiple sources, and even complete transactions on a user's behalf.

Central to Neon's design is the Tasks feature, which creates self-contained workspaces for different projects. Each Task functions like a mini-browser with its own context, allowing the AI to act across multiple sources without accessing information from other parts of the browser. The idea is that you can work on several complex projects simultaneously – say, planning a trip while researching a purchase – without the AI confusing contexts between them.

Neon browser also introduces Cards, which are reusable prompt instructions that can be combined to automate common workflows. Cards are supposed to be like building blocks for AI interactions: instead of explaining your needs from scratch each time, you can combine pre-made Cards like "pull-details" and "comparison-table" to instantly create product comparison prompts. For meeting notes, users might stack "key-decisions," "action-items," and "follow-ups" Cards to capture what matters in the right format, says Opera. Users can create their own Cards or access community-made options through an in-browser store.

The Neon Do function is perhaps the browser's most ambitious capability, since it allows the app to navigate websites, fill out forms, and gather data while operating within a user's logged-in browser session. Unlike cloud-based alternatives, Neon Do works locally, so it keeps login credentials private and lets users pause or take control at any time.

The browser will compete directly with similar offerings from the likes of Perplexity (Comet Browser) and The Browser Company (Dia Browser). Opera Neon won't replace the existing Opera browser, but some of its features will likely be added to Opera over time.

Apple has expanded its sleep apnea notification feature to Apple Watch users in South Korea, the company announced today.

Sleep apnea is a condition in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, often leading to poor rest. The Apple Watch detects signs of the disorder by using its accelerometer to track subtle wrist movements associated with irregular breathing patterns. When these disturbances occur repeatedly across several nights, the watch can flag a potential case of sleep apnea.

The feature is supported on the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch Ultra 3, and is available in more than 150 countries worldwide. To receive an initial reading, users need to wear the watch consistently for several nights, although nightly breathing disturbances are logged in the iPhone's Health app.

Apple also provides a full list of Apple Watch feature availability on its website.

WhatsApp has confirmed the introduction of Live Photos support on iPhones running its encrypted chat platform, allowing users to send and receive images captured in the format.

Introduced in 2015, Apple's Live Photos capture 1.5 seconds of video and audio before and after you take a picture, with the aim of adding a little bit of life and movement to still images.

In a blog post on Monday rounding up its recent feature additions, Meta-owned WhatsApp listed support for Live Photos on iOS, as well as Motion Photos – the equivalent format on Android.

When a Live Photo appears in a WhatsApp conversation, the familiar Live Photo symbol appears in the top-left corner of the preview image. Tapping the image plays the related clip as well as accompanying audio.

Among the other features recently added, you can now use Meta AI to design custom chat themes and generate unique video call backgrounds, or add AI-powered backdrops to photos and videos in chats. In addition, finding a group chat has become easier – you can now search for a contact in your Chats tab, and WhatsApp will show the groups you share.

The new features are said to have been added to the app "over the past few months," so if any don't appear for you, make sure you're running the latest version of WhatsApp.

Apple's retail store at University Park Village, in Fort Worth, Texas, will soon be moving to a different area of the shopping center.

The new store will open on Saturday, October 11, at 10 a.m. local time, on the north side of University Park Village. Apple is moving into a larger space previously split between men's suit store Jos. A. Bank and women's clothing store The Impeccable Pig.

Apple will be located between the relocated The Impeccable Pig and Eatzi's Market & Bakery, according to photos shared by Fort Worth resident Sydney B. Claridge.

Apple opened its current store at University Park Village in 2008. The new store will be larger than the original, and it will feature an updated design. Apple has yet to share any photos of the new store, however, so its exact layout remains to be seen.

Apple's original store between Starbucks and Williams Sonoma remains open for now.

Elsewhere in Texas, Apple continues to renovate its store at the Baybrook Mall, in the Houston suburb of Friendswood. It is unclear when this project will be completed, but Apple has been operating out of a temporary store at the mall in the meantime.

After Apple released the original iPad in 2010, it tested a second-generation model that only had 8GB of storage. AppleDemoYT, known for sourcing rare prototype devices, recently shared a video featuring the test ‌iPad‌.

The ‌iPad‌ runs SwitchBoard, Apple's internal factory testing software, instead of a version of iOS. It was manufactured in 2011, but it is a 2012 ‌iPad‌ that has an ‌iPad‌ 2,4 identifier. The ‌iPad‌ is a prototype that Apple used during the Engineering Validation Testing phase of device production.

On the back of the ‌iPad‌, there's an 8GB label, which suggests it wasn't just meant to be a test device. Apple's original ‌iPad‌ started with 16GB of storage, and Apple never released an ‌iPad‌ that had less storage space than that.

Prior to the launch of the ‌iPad‌ 3, there were rumors suggesting that Apple would release a low-cost iPad 2 with 8GB storage. It was supposedly going to be a more affordable option, but Apple ended up launching the ‌iPad‌ 3 at $499, while keeping the 16GB ‌iPad‌ 2 around at $399. The 8GB ‌iPad‌ never made it to market.

The rumor about the 8GB ‌iPad‌ came from DigiTimes, a site that has a hit or miss record when it comes to Apple rumors. Interestingly, the ‌iPad‌ 2 prototype proves that this is one time that ‌DigiTimes‌ wasn't wrong, because Apple did seemingly consider an 8GB model.

It's likely that Apple decided 8GB wasn't enough storage space for a tablet, and 2012 was around the time that Apple phased out 8GB capacities for the iPhone. From the original ‌iPhone‌ to the ‌iPhone‌ 4s, 8GB storage was an option, but the 2012 ‌iPhone‌ 5 started with 16GB of storage.

These days, 128GB is the minimum storage that Apple offers in its iPhones and iPads.

Anthropic today introduced Claude Sonnet 4.5, which the company says is the "best coding model in the world," outperforming GPT-5 and Gemini 2.5 Pro. It's also the strongest model for building complex agents and using computers, plus Anthropic says that it shows substantial gains in reasoning and math compared to Opus 4.1.

Along with Claude Sonnet 4.5, Anthropic added a new terminal interface and checkpoints to Claude Code. Checkpoints serve as save points, saving your progress so you can roll back to a previous state as necessary.

The Claude apps now support code execution and file creation for making spreadsheets, slides, and documents directly in the conversation. Claude for Chrome is available as well, with Anthropic allowing some Max users to beta test the feature. There's also a Claude Agent SDK that's available for building agents.

According to Anthropic, Claude Sonnet 4.5 has improved capabilities and extensive safety training to improve its behavior, so there has been a reduction in sycophancy, deception, power-seeking, and the tendency to encourage delusional thinking.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 is available everywhere starting today, and Anthropic recommends that users upgrade.
