iOS 18.1 Beta 3 Adds These Two Useful Features to iPhones
Apple today made the third beta of iOS 18.1 available to developers for testing, and this latest beta includes two additional Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone.
First, there is a new generative AI-powered "Clean Up" tool in the Photos app that "can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject," according to Apple.
MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris shared a brief video of the feature in action.
In addition, the third beta of iOS 18.1
extends notification summaries to additional apps, whereas they were limited to the Messages and Mail apps in the first two betas of the update. These summaries highlight key details from a stack of notifications in one bubble on the Lock Screen, and you can still tap to view individual notifications.
iOS 18.1 will likely be widely released to the public in late October. Apple Intelligence requires an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max, and rumors suggest that the entire iPhone 16 series will also support the features. Apple has not released an iOS 18.1 public beta yet.
