CES 2022: Satechi Debuts Pro Hub Max and USB-4 Multiport Adapter With 8K HDMI

Satechi today announced the launch of two new accessories designed for Apple's latest MacBooks, the USB-4 Multiport Adapter with 8K HDMI and the Pro Hub Max. Both of the new products are designed to expand the number of available ports for Apple's MacBook models.

The USB-4 Multiport Adapter features an 8K HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a USB-C PD charging port, three USB-A data ports that supports speeds of up to 10Gb/s, and micro/SD card readers. It supports 8K output at up to 60Hz, and Satechi says it has a design that's meant to allow for better heat dissipation to prevent connected devices from overheating.

Designed for Apple's M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBooks, the Pro Hub Max includes a 4K HDMI port for dual display functionality that supports up to 60Hz, a Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB-C ports, a USB-A port, micro/SD card readers, and an audio jack.

The Pro Hub Max is designed to plug into two of the USB-C ports on the side of one of Apple's new MacBook Pro models.

The USB-4 Multiport Adapter with 8K HDMI is priced at $150, while the Pro Hub Max is priced at $100. Both will be available from the Satechi website in the near future.

Am I the only person who doesn't want/need a single USB-A port? Would love a hub but I switched everything to USB-C years ago.

Most Audio gear is using USB-A/USB-B connections still. Its not just about USB-C devices. Look at a RME ADI-2 DAC ('https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ADI2DACFS--rme-adi-2-dac-fs-2-channel-da-converter?utm_source=MSN&utm_medium=PPC&mrkgadid=3251364496&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=mpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=studio&recording&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046997883710&lid=92700046997883710&ds_s_kwgid=58700005286965274&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=4581458795425256&product_id=ADI2DACFS&prodctry=US&prodlang=EN&channel=Online&storeid&device=c&network=s&matchtype=e&locationid&creative&targetid=pla-4581458795425256&campaignid=283268301&adgroupid=1245746827412931&gclid=cbe8cfaf34241e6a7301ae7ad7c802b9&gclsrc=3p.ds&msclkid=cbe8cfaf34241e6a7301ae7ad7c802b9')
That's true and I realize most audio people aren't going to replace older super expensive equipment anytime soon. However I already replaced my keyboard cable with a cheap USB-B to USB-C cable, my Universal Audio interfaces are Thunderbolt 3, and my external HDs are all USB-C.

Sometimes it feel like I'm the only person who moved on from USB-A when every new hub has more and more USB-As and fewer USB-Cs when that's all I need. :/

Why do they put USB-A connection on a mac device 2021? Every Mac users more or less uses usb-c. I have replaced all my device that I use usb-c since many years. They could have the same speed but just put like 6 usb-c connectors on a hub and I will order instantly
