(View all)For those bitching about the fact that its 'just an iPhone 4s' its shockingly again Steves fault for allowing a 2-year cycle with the 3Gs. Get it into your heads, Apple do not release a new iPhone every year, they do Year 1 Major, Year 2 Minor, Year 3 Major, Year 4 Minor, etc.
Down vote me if it makes you feel better, but I'm pretty confident that Apple have a much better idea about what they are doing than a bunch of customers who just want a new look toy.
The interwebs are doing a giant, collective yawn over the announcement.
The actual buying public cares very little about whatever unicorns the “interwebs” expected to appear today: they were already snapping up the iPhone 3GS as the second-best selling smartphone (after the iPhone 4).
It’s a very small collective yawn :) About a phone with tons of new features and specs... in the same shape. The last shape lasted 2 years, and now this shape has too. It’s just a shape. And a great one compared to all the thick bricks out there that somehow still don’t get any appreciable battery life!
Miss ya Steve.

I'm not yawning over the iPhone 4S - there's a lot of important internal changes, and Siri is amazing - but Tim Cook's presentation skills seriously need upgrading.
"Let's Talk iPhone, and Bring Lots of Coffee" would be a better name for the event....
As anyone who has ever done one of these can tell you, it's a lot harder to get your pace & timing right than you might think. Usually takes some practice before you don't come off like you're on lures or a crackhead. It looked & sounded like Tim was really focusing on his pacing....
But I really think they missed an opportunity to sex this whole thing up. I understand the logic behind a new model and an upgrade model and all that.
But you have a new CEO to introduce, and you get one shot at making a first impression. They already did the hard part, & reengineered the guts of the device & gave it a new OS. All it would have taken to make this a huge event is a different enclosure design, calling it "iPhone 5" or "iPhone V", trim the statistics fat off the presentation, and speed up the video of Tim 5 or 6%, and it'd be evident that after being up in the air after Jobs, Apple has hit the ground running.
No new iPhone (just a tweak and a speech App included)
No new iPod Touch (and no capacity increase for 4 years)
No new iPod Nano (and no capacity increase either)
So Apple is building new office buildings to house hordes of new workers that just tweak existing products......Geez, no wonder the stock is tanking.
A "minor tweak" that adds a second core to the CPU and to the GPU? Nice "tweak." I wonder what an extra 2-cores to my i7 would be...a VERY minor tweak?
