What's the word on the Canon drivers I wonder? Scanning has been an absolute catastrophe since I got my pro & Leopard. Have had to rely on image capture. I guess I'll look at the support pages...

There is no excuse for Apple not re-writing the drivers in snow leopard to handle my all-in-one printer/fax/scanner. Now we know why the software update was so cheap, the printer manufacturers paid to force us all to buy new printers. If HP or somebody doesn't write me a driver soon, I'll never deal with HP ever again.

Yea, HP sucks. hard. Their printer software and drivers are an after-thought. Even in Micro$oft Windows. I replaced my parent's HP all-in-one with an Epson Workforce 600 and the result was so, soo good. Better software, better printing, better scanning. Though they are still using Leopard, but that will probably change to Snow Leopard when I visit for the holidays :)

Apple, I can see, but the HP printers I use @ work are great. Work very well. Heck my mom still has an HP Laserjet 4 @ work still going strong. But then again, I don't have any multi-function HP products so I don't know about those.

This is all very well and good, but the lexmark printer software crashes on startup. So while I can print, I still can't scan. I wish Lexmark/apple sort this out. Its only since snow leopard as on leopard it worked fine.

Sigh.

I've been OK until 10.6.2 with an LiDE 200. Canon says the drivers (now 3
months old) are current and work with SL, and Apple says everything is
current. Yet I can't scan after a wake-from-sleep cycle.

My theory is that this scanner, since it gets its power from the USB port, just
loses track of the connection, and the driver doesn't compensate. I wonder
if a scanner with its own power cord would make a difference?

I'm also using VueScan - are you using this to scan, or relying on just the
supplied Canon software, or Image Capture?

well it appears they finally got some utilities working with epson 1280, but they are very, very limited. supplies shows one bar for black ink, and one for color, instead of having every color separately. better than nothing, but still worthless.
