One of New iPad Pro's Only Upgrades Missing From Camera App
One of the key features of Apple's latest iPad Pro models is not accessible on the device by default, it has emerged.
The iPad Pro now supports ProRes video recording for the first time thanks to the M2 chip, but there is as yet no way to actually record ProRes video in Apple's native Camera app. Instead, users who want to record ProRes video must turn to third-party apps that have been updated for the new functionality, such as FiLMiC Pro.
The move is strange considering that the iPhone gained ProRes video recording in the Camera app last year, and in light of the fact that this year's iPad Pro update is relatively incremental, only adding features like the M2 chip, Apple Pencil hover, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6E. It is still possible that Apple could bring ProRes video recording to the iPad's Camera app via a future update to iPadOS.
