I expect price increases. I also expect that I am being priced out of Apple faster than I expected. I also expect to wait longer and longer to upgrade.

I do too, but it's not unique to Apple. All prices are rising with the tide. Tech is just getting more expensive in 2026, that's why we are seeing things like lease deals, financing options.

As for me, I'm going to need a VERY compelling reason to upgrade my M1 Pro Laptop, my M2 iPad Pro and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Until recently, these were going to be no brainer trade-ups because that's just what I do to stay current. This year, the price increases are going to give me major pause.
Yep, I think that with many things, not just Apple products, the questions people are more likely to ask than before are:

Does what I have do everything I want it to do? Will it keep doing this tomorrow / next week / next month?

If the answer is yes, and people are feeling the pinch of rising costs, then why upgrade?

Think iMac and MacBook Ultra will be unveiled along with other home devices in October. September event only for iPhones, watch and AirPods.

I’m glad I got to live through the golden age. It was magical. It was exciting. Apple events were dramatic.
This I find interesting, and it depends very much on the person's age. When do you think "the golden age" of Apple was?

For me, there was more than one. Apple has been up and down, for various reasons, throughout its 50 years.

“One more thing” seems trite when every “new” thing you release has been to market by other manufacturers for 5-10 years.

So, now that Tim “What’s a Magic Mouse 🤔” Bean-counter is gone, they’ll play it less safe.
I always find the "bean-counter" comments funny. He is/was the CEO of a publicly traded company. He was never going target the crazy fringe customers who will complain about anything/everything Apple does and make up a very small portion of Apple's customer base. Really that simple.

If you think now that Tim is gone that Apple is going to drastically change its approach, you are going to be pretty upset. Will there be some changes, yes, but probably not the changes you want. Apple's competitors would switch positions with them in a second if given the chance...

Its easier to complain about him because he didn't release products you wanted with the features you wanted when you wanted it. He successfully led a 4+ Trillion dollar company and some of you act like he is an incompetent fool.

Fun times.

1983-1993, of course.
But they were a small, and not very successful company, and they were ridiculously overpriced at that point. Sales of the Apple II, a platform they abandoned, was what kept them afloat for most of that period.

Taking off the nostalgia glasses, if there was a Mac golden age, it was the first half of the intel era, and the Apple golden age was from the release of the original iPod until the iPhone 5s or so. It brought the concept that a computer didn’t need to be “a computer” into the mainstream.

If there was a truly industry changing Apple product, it would be the humble AirPod.

The release of M chips, M1 and M2 variants, left intel and other ARM based laptops in the dust - they solved the power to performance issue intel and AMD simply hadn’t been able to.

There were also a lot of lows. But there really wasn’t a single golden age. That’s either hipster-talk or old fogey talk.
