Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming tvOS 11.4.1 update to its public beta testing group, one day after seeding iOS 11.4.1 to developers and a few days after releasing tvOS 11.4.

The tvOS 11.4.1 public beta can be obtained by going to the Settings app on the Apple TV and navigating to the Software Updates section under "System." "Get Public Beta Updates" will need to be toggled on, and once it is, the Apple TV will download the beta software.

No notable features or changes were discovered in the first developer beta of tvOS 11.4.1, suggesting this is a minor update.

Most tvOS updates have been minor in scale, and Apple does not provide detailed notes outlining what's new, so we may not know just what's included in tvOS 11.4.1 if it's only bug fixes.

How about fixing the low volume bug - it is still an issue today?

There's a number of bugs. The one I like least is a broken Fast Scroll. With the "4", fast scroll "just worked." With the 4K, it starts & stalls, starts & stalls when trying to quickly scroll through a long list. It seems it gives priority to dynamically loading new thumbnail images instead of (fast) scrolling the list and then loading where the scroll might stop.

I also wonder why it has to dynamically load lists & thumbnails each time. Why not just cache such information and "check' it each time to see if anything is changed in iTunes. If there's nothing new, use the cached list already loaded. If there is something new, then load the changes and cache that (new complete list) for next time.

I miss "just works" Apple.

I wish they’d let me lock the Apple TV audio output to the stereo HomePods, rather than reselecting it all the time
