Apple Releases iPhone Configuration Utility 2.0

Apple today released iPhone Configuration Utility 2.0 for both Mac OS X (8.71 MB) and Windows (30.83 MB). The utility is targeted at system administrators deploying iPhones in enterprise settings.

iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, maintain, encrypt, and push configuration profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device information including console logs.

This is good news!

Last night I learned the hard way that the 1.1 version of this utility COMPLETELY BREAKS THE MOBILE DEVICE DRIVERS!! Argh!

So leave it to Apple to wait one more day than I did to go finding this tool to release the update heh.

I trust it fixes the usbmux** dylib issues that 1.1 had alongside the updated iTunes etc.

I found that out too. Took a re-install of iTunes to fix it. I was really worried.

i do seriously doubt this is of any real use to me but yeah curiosity is always there!

Would be good if it let you move icons around on your home screens... doing it the normal way is insanely tedious.

Not really, it's for businesses that have large scale iPhone deployment requirements

It is useful for college students and faculty, it can configure the iPhone to work with a 802.1x network. I have it and I use it for that one reason and it works great.

Excellent. iPhone is slowly becoming more and more friendly to companies. :)
Rimm's stock price dropped 8% over the past three days (Rimm makes Blackberry) :)

Yesterday iTunes stopped seeing the iPhone, installing this fixed the problem, 5 itunes reinstalls and downgrades didn't. Apple Mobile Device Services seems a little bit sketchy.

I didn't need any utility to get 802.1x to work ...

The network uses peap and requires that you accept a security certificate, it could not be done without this utility.
