Apple Releases MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2

Apple today released MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2, adding support for new replacement batteries for the Late 2008 MacBook Air. Apple does not provide any additional details on these batteries.

This SMC firmware update adds compatibility for the latest service replacement batteries.

this may just a placebo and my mind is playing tricks on me, but it immediately feels like it's running cooler and less loud! im on a MBA rev. A

My CPU temp is 108ºF right now... don't think I've ever seen it that low. You may be right.

So as much as I don't want to be that guy who installs an update and claims it fixes undocumented problems, my rev.A Air does seem to be running better.

My temp still runs really high, but while usually my laptop gets unusable if I watch flash video as the kernel_task steals all my CPU cycles right now it is multi-tasking nicely despite the flash video playing.

If this means new (mid 2009) batteries are compatible with late 2008 Airs... :D
