Apple Releases QuickTime 7.5.5

Apple also released QuickTime 7.5.5 today and is recommended for use with iTunes 8:

QuickTime 7.5.5 includes changes that increase reliability, improve application compatibility and enhance security.

This release is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.

Yeah or improve my mac's ability to play recording I make with a Sanyo HD1010... :-( I can record 1080p60 h264 but I cannot play it!

Front Row has been updated as well to 2.1.6.

This Front Row update provides improved iTunes 8.0 compatibility and bug fixes.

That's what I was wondering about. We can do Dolby Digital now? I know you could before with Perian, but the last Quicktime update broke it. Do the new HD TV shows have surround sound?

AAC 5.1 has been around for a while. If Front Row/Quicktime has the ability to transcode to DD5.1 on the fly, that would be great. We'll see...

Try installing Perian or using VLC.

The would be very, very nice and put me a step closer to considering Apple TV. 1080p would help, too, but that's a different story.
