According to a reader submission, Apple appears to be in the process of organizing an Apple Store event for October 24th, 2003.A specific request to a lighting company apparently involves projecting a large "X" into the sky.
In a potentially related note: Panther has been rumored for mid-late October.
Update: October 24th reportedly also coincides with a new Apple Store opening in San Diego, CA at University Towncenter Mall.
