iPods Deal until March 14th?

pyrotoaster wrote in that Apple is now offering a special deal on the 10GB iPod

    If you buy a 10 GB iPod (and only a 10 GB iPod) from the Apple online store between now and March 14, Apple will give you a free XtremeMac Get Connected Kit.

The March 14th date has spawned some speculation that updates may be delayed until then, however MacUnderground feels this deal implies that that the iPod line will be revised before March 14th.

Well I haven't found where it says they're bundling it for free but here is the blurb on the XtremeMac Get Connected Kit (not made by Apple):

"The 6-Piece Get Connected Audio Bundle expands the capabilities of the iPod by enabling connectivity to car stereos, home stereo systems, cassette players and computer speakers.

Bundle Includes:

* iShare Earbud Splitter
* Xwire Gold Male/Male & Male/Female Cables
* Xwire Gold RCA Audio Cable
* Premium iPod Car Charger
* iPod Cassette Adapter
"

Its listed as an extra for $39.99 but I can't see any mention of a bundle deal? Am I looking in the right place? Perhaps someone else could try looking in case I missed something. No I really can't see anything :confused:

When I submitted this, I didn't mean to suggest that the iPod release will be after March 14, but before then.

If Apple was going to release the updated iPods after the 14th, why would they only offer the deal on the 10 GB model? The 20 GB one is rumored to slim down a bit, but the 10 is supposed to stay the same.

I strongly believe that this is evidence to support a pre-14th release, not a post-14th one.

Also, this would appear to confirm that the 10 GB model will not be changing at all in the next update. It also supports rumors of the 5 GB's demise, and the minor 20 GB change mentioned above.

Where did you read about this? I've been checking Apple.com and the online store this morning and this afternoon and I don't see the offer?

If Apple was clearing their inventory they would make the offer available to windows podders too. I think this is nothing...

Is it me or have the iPod rumors gone out of control, and also, do they have any real basis?
It seems to me that many iPod rumors, and the status given in the buyers guide stating that we should wait because upgrades are imminent, are less based on real evidence then mere assumptions that upgrades are due.
I have been waiting to buy an iPod for months now, but first was told to wait for MWSF, then when that didn't happed I was supposed to wait because at any minute they would come. Here I am though, months later - iPodless.
Now, this isn't a rumors-site-bash-session. I love MacRumors. I am merely saying, that the rumor frenzy over iPod upgrades are just based on people talking it up in forums and no actual real evidence. The only thing close to evidence is the introduction fo the new Toshiba drives, but even that requires some time for Apple to integrate. (2-3 months from what I hear)
I just wish that the frenzy of iPod rumors was based more on hard info. Even the MacRumors buying guide says that you should wait to buy an iPod because they will be updated soon, BUT this is not based on any hard evidence, just a lot of forum talk.
So where does this leave me? Frantically checking MacRumors for some real info, and hoping to wake up one morning and see the Apple store stie under construction...

The March 14th date spawns speculation that updates will not arrive before that date.

Apple can change any aspect of the promotion on a whim if they like. I think Steve jobs is just trying to screw with our minds (and enjoying it).... get everyone thinking that we've got to wait another 3 weeks and then... BANG... new iPods next week.

For what its worth. The folks at MacWhispers.com have gone out on a limb and virtually guaranteed a next Tuesday release for basic iPods with increased space, same price points. So doube the storage for the same money as iPods of today.
They seen VERY confident. Of course, its all speculation and rumors.
But I do feel its logical for Apple to release another product soon and I doubt the PB are ready.
