Here's How You Can Download iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 Around the World [It's Out]

Apple's official public release of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 dropped on Wednesday, September 16, just a day after the company released the Golden Master to third-party developers. Also set to be made available to the general public for the first time are watchOS 7 and tvOS 14.

While that's left a lot of developers scrambling to test and submit their apps to Apple for review – a process that can sometimes take days if not weeks – that doesn't change the fact that plenty of Apple device users will be eager to download and install the new software as soon as it comes out.

Release Date and Time

Apple's iOS 14 was released on September 16th right before 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific time. The update should be available worldwide by the time you read this.

How to Install

The update is available on all eligible devices (see below) over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

  1. Ideally, plug your iPhone or iPad into a power outlet
  2. Go to Settings > General > Software Update

  • iPad mini 4 and 5
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)

watchOS 7 can be installed on Apple Watch Series 3, Series 4, and Series 5 models. It is not compatible with the original first-generation Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 1, or Apple Watch Series 2.

tvOS 14 is designed to run on the fourth- and fifth-generation Apple TV models. It is not compatible with earlier versions of the ‌Apple TV‌, as those models do not support tvOS.
