AirPods Pro 3 Again Rumored to Offer an All-New Health Feature
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman this week reported that Apple's upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds will feature heart rate monitoring for workouts, and he once again said this is a feature that Apple wants to bring to future AirPods.
In a December edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman said the heart rate technology could be ready for the third-generation AirPods Pro, which he said were in "early development" within the company. There is no firm timeframe for when the next AirPods Pro will be released, but a late 2025 or 2026 launch seems likely.
AirPods Pro getting heart rate monitoring would allow more customers to access this capability for health and fitness purposes, without needing to wear an Apple Watch. In internal testing, however, Apple found that heart rate data was slightly more accurate on the Apple Watch compared to AirPods, according to Gurman.
Based on our own iOS 18 code findings, the Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts, in supported apps.
It would make sense for this Powerbeats Pro 2 feature to eventually come to the AirPods Pro.
