Apple Planning to Hold iPhone 14 Event on September 7

iPhone events are often held on Tuesdays, but Monday, September 5 is the Labor Day holiday in the United States, so Apple likely pushed the event to Wednesday to provide a one-day buffer. iPhone events have occurred on Wednesday four times in the past.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8, and more with a pre-recorded event video.

iOS 16 Beta 6 Released With Changes to New Battery Icon in Low Power Mode

Apple this week released the sixth beta of iOS 16. The latest beta mainly includes bug fixes and other under-the-hood improvements, but it does make a notable change to the new battery percentage icon while Low Power Mode is activated on an iPhone.

Apple also released iOS 15.6.1, iPadOS 15.6.1, and macOS 12.5.1 with important security fixes for WebKit and kernel vulnerabilities. Apple said it is aware of a report that the vulnerabilities may have been actively exploited, so updating is recommended.

System Settings App in macOS Ventura Beta Still Riddled With UI Issues

Apple's redesigned System Settings app in macOS Ventura, which replaces System Preferences on macOS Monterey and earlier, still has several user interface issues even in recent beta versions.

As noted by developer Niki Tonsky on Twitter, the System Settings app has inconsistent use and erratic behavior of basic UI elements like dropdown menus and buttons, misaligned text and poorly sized windows, menu titles that are cut off by menu windows, misplaced content, and more.

macOS Ventura is still in beta, so the System Settings app may see improvements by time the update is released later this year.

Replacing the iPhone Mini with a iPhone Max (plus) 6.7” for rumored $899 is likely what a lot will be interested in this round.
No.
Not at all.

This is a perfect example how people completely misunderstand us owners of smaller phones.

Why is the phone on SOS?
And who would turn on Low Power Mode at 98% battery?
And what about without Low Power Mode?
Too many questions

That certainly isn’t a mini
Because look it has the battery percentage , and there’s hardly ANY SPACE left for anything else because of it. Good thing the mini doesn’t get to display the percentage because it’d surely take up the WHOLE SCREEN! ?

I got a 13 mini for partner when it became clear there would not be a 14 mini. Her existing phone was getting poor battery life and a slightly larger screen would be appreciated.

She hardly uses it for web access and apps. Mail, SMS/iMessage, actual phone, camera. And that's it much of the time.

The small increment in thickness and weight was already an issue. Doesn't fit so well in her handbag. Anything larger would need new handbags! (She is a petite person so big, even middling, handbags are not appealing, and health issues make any extra weight from a bigger bag unacceptable.)

For her needs and wants, the 13 mini works. Lack of a mini option would have left her stranded. Wanting to keep with iPhone but no model that did not cause excessive disruption.

Or… One could make a case for this being a perfect example of how people can completely misinterpret another person’s words/message/intent. I read, then reread, the same post and took away a totally different message. I didn’t see them make one mention that small phone users woukd do a completely out-of-character about-face and fall over themselves for the 14 Max. Instead, I thought they were simply suggesting that amongst all potential iPhone customers, the 14 Max stood a strong chance of being one of the more popular configurations this cycle - a claim which is not much of a stretch. For the first time ever, iPhone customers have the option of a large screen iPhone minus Pro features and Pro price point. There is a massive audience out there that want a large screen iPhone but aren’t going to (or can’t) drop $1,100 (or more) for a larger screen. And Apple knows this. They spent two years testing the waters with the mini. And clearly they feel more wallets will open for a large screen, non-Pro iPhone than did for the iPhone mini. And I think they’re right.

Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see which models people do buy more this cycle. I can’t recall reviewing past sales metrics (a link to such data would be awesome), but would think non-Pro devices historically outsell Pro options based almost solely on price point. Thus, it males sense that the 14 Max could be one of the more popular options this time around. The fun part is we’re just a few short weeks away from solving this riddle. Should be fun.

huh? That is the last thing I would do. The Mini is already too big, so I certainly wouldn't use anything bigger.
