Apple Launches True Crime Podcast and Apple TV+ Series 'The Line'

Apple has today announced the launch of a new true crime podcast and Apple TV+ show titled "The Line" (via Variety).

Apple TV Plus The Line
The Line encompasses two independent non-fiction series about the same subject, including a six-part non-fiction podcast and a four-part limited documentary series on ‌Apple TV+‌.

The multi-media series is set to expose "previously untold aspects" about the story of former Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, who was charged in 2018 with committing war crimes in Iraq, before being acquitted on all but one minor count and being given a presidential pardon. The series will examine the complicated realities involved with fighting a decades-long war and look at counterterrorism efforts in the Middle East.

The podcast series is hosted by Dan Taberski and features one-on-one interviews with Gallagher himself, as well as with more than 50 current and former special operators in the military. The ‌Apple TV+‌ series will expand on the content of the podcast with "never-before-seen-footage."

The first two episodes of The Line podcast are available now, while the separate ‌Apple TV+‌ series will premiere later this fall. The following four podcast episodes will premiere weekly each Tuesday until May 4.

Apple has launched podcasts to accompany the ‌Apple TV+‌ series "For All Mankind" and "Oprah's Book Club," but this is the first independent podcast series linked to an ‌Apple TV+‌ show from the company. Apple has ramped up its podcast production output over the past year, and is rumored to be working on a podcast streaming subscription service to better compete with Spotify.

Whenever I go on Netflix there’s a new serial killer series. They should change the name of their platform to Killflix.

This looks awesome. Can’t wait to see it!! I do wish that ATV+ would do longer series though. I find myself loving most of the content, but then I get sad knowing I have to wait an entire year for another like 6 episodes for season 2. (If it does get renewed... *cough Defending Jacob*...)

Nothing wrong with that. I mainly watched Netflix for their serial killers documentaries anyway. ?

Snozefest. Apple TV is the lamest of the streaming services. I got it free with an i-Device in Oct of 2019, and if Apple didn't keep extending it for free, I would have long since canceled. All the shows on there are trash.

I wasn't there, so I can't comment on that situation, but that was definitely some bad business. I will say this though, the podcast sounds interesting, and there's no group of people on the planet I respect more than the U.S. Navy SEALs.
