MacRumors

9to5mac.com posted what looks like three iPhones with docks.

They flippantly say they aren't real, but have previously posted another image that appears to be a real live iPhone.

Also notable from the site is an earlier claim that the iPhone would have Quicklook for Word and Excel files as well as OSX-Level VPN. The Quicklook for Word and Excel was essentially confirmed with Apple's iPhone Video Tour. Regarding VPN, they said:

The iPhones will have the standard OSX VPN client when they ship next week. This will allow connecting to Macintosh and Windows VPN Servers on L2TP or PPTP over IPSEC. The client is very simple and will be set up from its own settings pane.

Boy Genius Report claims that their sources indicate that the iPhone's data plan will be around $34.99-$44.99 per month and feature unlimited data transfer. The text message allotment appears to be up in the air between either 2000 text messages or unlimited text.

Boy Genius Report also states that FedEx will be holding deliveries to retail stores until Friday itself, so stores will only be stocked immediately before the iPhones go on sale.

One AT&T spokesperson had claimed that they would be releasing voice and data plans prior to the Friday launch, but no information has yet been announced. A Page 2 story noted that the AT&T wireless store did go down for maintenance earlier today, but has since come back up with no obvious changes.

Smarkofficenews.com.au claims to have heard that Apple is talking to manufacturing partners in Asia about the next generation iPhone:

Among the new capabilities will be GPS and expanded WiFi capability as well as the ability to sync with email servers. Apple research and development executives are according to sources in Taiwan trying to overcome a lack of expanded media support for Flash memory.

The site has never been a source of rumors in the past, so their accuracy is unknown.

MacScoop claims to have procured the Mac OS X "Leopard" development roadmap running up to the software's October release.

Major build milestones are said to include a build by early July which will include some fixes for Airport, UI, API, and Developer Tools issues. A following build in August will be feature-complete, adding minor features and adjustments. MacScoop believes that the build handed to developers at WWDC was only mostly feature complete, and that Apple may still polish the user interface, including the menu bar and Dock.

Final Candidate stages are said to arrive in early September, with 4-6 weeks of testing until the Gold Master is certified, with a release in late October.

A Flickr account, presumably by an AT&T store employee, shows some of the early iPhone accessory arrivals. Despite Apple's claims that the iPhone will be relatively resistant to scratches, it is expected that carrying cases and protectors will be one of the hot-sellers.

Of course, iPhone will also work with Bluetooth headsets, including its own Bluetooth headset, which an unconfirmed rumor points to a $129 pricetag for. iPhone also includes Apple's 30-pin dock connector, so most existing iPod accessories should work as well (car chargers, FM transmitters, etc).

Update: Multiple reports from MacRumors sources are pointing to a $129 price point for Apple's Bluetooth ear piece accessory.

The USA Today article we had previously referenced also contains an interesting sidebar interviewing Balsu Thandu, one of the individuals who has been field testing the iPhone over the past two months.

Approximately 200 field technicians have been secretly testing the iPhone for 10 weeks, logging over 10,000 hours on the phone, including over 5,000 hours of voice calls and 5 gigabytes of data usage. This is reportedly twice as much testing as other phones.

Users worried about durability can rest easier that testing included dousing the iPhone in water, dropping it onto concrete and bouncing it off sidewalks. Real life usage testing was also a big focus:

"Many people don't realize it, but walking gives you the worst channel conditions," Thandu says. Cell signals tend to bounce off buildings, causing interference, and background noise is a constant problem in cities.

Apple reportedly made ongoing adjustments based on the feedback, including improving audio quality which was originally "not loud or clear enough".

According to the article, Thandu feels comfortable that the iPhone is ready for launch.

Boston.com is reporting that iPhone subscribers will have to pay $175 to break their two year contract.

Even though AT&T isn't subsidizing the iPhone's hefty price -- $499 to $599, depending on the storage capacity a customer chooses -- the company will charge a $175 termination fee for iPhone users who want to break their two-year contracts.

Early cancellation fees are typical for mobile phone contracts in the U.S., but the article points out that these fees typically help cover the phone subsidies that mobile carriers offer on new phones. The iPhone, however, has been heavily rumored not to benefit from these retail discounts. Regardless, AT&T spokesperson Mark Siegel justifies the fee by noting that

"There are certain fixed costs we incur in serving every customer who establishes service with us."

It appears that Apple iPhone displays are going up at Apple Stores. TUAW noted that a "large, covered rectangular display" appeared at the 5th Avenue Apple Store last night. They've also posted a small gallery of images of the shrouded display. Apple Store employees were reportedly unable to give out any further information.

The displays have been revealed at other locations and show large video demonstrations of the iPhone:

We'd heard rumors that Apple Stores would be getting more promotional displays this Friday, and there had been hopes (though unconfirmed) that iPhone rate plans details would also be announced at that time.

Update: Pulse took these photos at the Apple Store in Hollywood. It appears to have a power cord: 1 2 3

Eagle-eyed forum members have found new references in Apple's Mac OS 10.4.10 "Tiger" update that seem to support the forthcoming iPhone and rumored iMac revision.

Forum member bogg writes that four new display vendor ID's appear in 10.4.10 relating to the iMac. While the ID's themselves do not suggest any specific features of the iMac, they do lend credence to rumors that Apple plans to update the product within the next several weeks.

Also, AppleInsider reports that a new framework named "YahooSync" is installed with the update, most likely referring to support for various Yahoo! services supported by the the iPhone (including push IMAP and Yahoo! address books).

Meanwhile, forum user milhous, notes that http://www.yahoo.com/iphone redirects to http://iphone.yahoo.com with a "Sorry, the page you requested was not found" error. The DNS changes suggest that Yahoo may be preparing their own iPhone portal.

iLounge reports on comments by AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel which indicates that AT&T will be releasing iPhone voice and data rate plans prior to launch day (June 29th).

"We will disclose before the 29th," said Siegel, noting that customers will be able to show up at stores that day knowing how much they will be charged for both the Apple-developed hardware and AT&T's cellular service plans.
It's not going to be anything exotic"

There will reportedly be separate Voice and Data plans and a 2-year service commitment will be required.

An earlier report today claimed rate plans would not be revealed until the day of launch (June 29th)

We have heard reports that some form of announcement is expected tomorrow (Friday).

As we approach the iPhone release (8 days away), there have been increasing reports of iPhone sightings. We can never be sure about the legitimacy of these reports or photos, so they are provided for interest's sake. This shot was reportedly taken at an airport:

Portions have been blurred and scaled to protect the individual's privacy. The increase in sightings could be due to one claim that individuals lucky enough to have an iPhone at this early date are now permitted to use them in public.

An earlier photo which had made the rounds showed someone using the iPhone on a train.

Finally, a first-hand report was posted to our iPhone forums, in which the author claims to have used the iPhone himself.
