Two More iOS 19 Changes Revealed in New Report
iOS 19 remains months away, but rumors about the upcoming update continue to surface.
The latest word comes from
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who today reported two additional changes that Apple is allegedly planning for iOS 19.
First, he said that at least some AirPods models will be getting a new live translation feature with iOS 19 and an accompanying firmware update.
Here is how that feature will work, according to Gurman:
The capability will work like this: If an English speaker is hearing someone talk in Spanish, the iPhone will translate the speech and relay it to the user's AirPods in English. The English speaker's words, meanwhile, will be translated into Spanish and played back by the iPhone.
Google already offers a similar Live Translate feature.
Second, he said iOS 19 will have bolstered translation capabilities, which likely means improvements are coming to the Apple Translate app.
He did not reveal any specific changes planned for the Apple Translate app.
Starting with iOS 18.4, all iPhone users can set a default translation app, such as Google Translate. iOS 18.4 is currently in beta, and the update will be released to the general public in early April, according to Apple's website.
