Apple Music on the Web Exits Beta

Last September, Apple launched a web-based Apple Music experience, offering users a similar experience to the Mac version of the Music app with "For You," "Browse," and "Radio" sections, along with playlists, recommendations and more.

As of today, Apple Music on the web has exited beta and is now available at music.apple.com. The previous beta.music.apple.com address automatically forwards to the newly launched version.

Once you're signed into the web version of ‌Apple Music‌ with your Apple ID that has an associated ‌Apple Music‌ subscription, you'll have access to all of your library and playlist content, as well as the same personal mixes and recommendations you'll see in the Music apps for iOS, Mac, and Android.

‌Apple Music‌ content plays right in the web browser, providing access for an array of devices and platforms that don't have native Music app support, include Windows 10, Linux, and Chrome OS.

‌Apple Music‌ on the web is also where you can access your Apple Music Replay mixes with personalized playlists for each year reflecting your most-played songs. Once you activate your ‌Apple Music‌ Replay experience through the web, you can add the playlists to the rest of your devices.

(Thanks, Jesse!)

A typical Apple web application. Super slow performance, lacking lots of basic functionality and no browser integrations whatsoever.

Functionality:
- missing lyrics
- adding songs to a playlist (really...)
- uploading songs to iCloud Music Library (like YouTube Music / Deezer / Google Play / …)
- No support for picture in picture like Spotify / YouTube Music / …
- No support for global media session like Spotify / YouTube Music etc. in

- no drag and drop
- still no handoff to switch between several devices
- no Chromecast support
- no podcast access
- no playlist edit functions (make public / private / remove song / … )
- sound quality is way worse

So just like iCloud.com and Apple TV+ this is another terrible effort. I don't understand why the web developers at Apple are such horrible programmers...

I think it is a bit insulting towards customers. I have an iPad Pro, AirPods Pro, iPhone X, Apple Pencil 2, Smart Keyboard cover, Apple TV+, iCloud 50 GB plan and Apple Music Family. They got a truckload of money from me, yet they keep making my life difficult when I am on my work laptop or gaming desktop. And no I will never ever buy a MacOS-device.

Maybe I should just switch to just using Apple hardware with third party services for everything. If they want their services to succeed they should actually make them available everywhere and with good quality apps and web access. For example: Music and TV+ apps for PlayStation, Xbox, WebOS, Android TV. Decent sites that provide the same quality, performance and functionality as the apps.

Very good. Now please return to fixing Music on Catalina ('https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/music-missing-features-bugs-issues-troubleshooting.2189298/'). Having to still hack in iTunes to have a sane experience is bananas.

It should not have exited Beta based on my interactions with the site right now. Apple Music on the mac is an abysmal experience, but I detest Spotify so I'll deal. I gotta say, Apple polished the iOS app a bit but the macOS app is borderline unusable -- the experience is unpleasant and everything seems to be hidden in a million menus. I thought deleting the bloat that was iTunes would streamline the Music app, but it's equally bad. Oh well, I do enjoy Apple Music; I just wish it were better.

Do you need to be an AM subscriber, or can say iTunes Match users use this to see their collection?
iTunes match subscriber here, nope, didn't work. I assume you have to get Apple Music.
