Larry Ellison steps down from Apple Board

Larry Ellison (CEO of Oracle) has stepped down from Apple's Board of Directors.

"I will continue to offer my advice to (Apple CEO) Steve (Jobs) and the executive management team at Apple, but my schedule does not currently allow me to attend enough of the formal board meetings to warrant a role as a director,"

Ellison had been a long time proponent of the net-appliances spawning much speculation about Apple's future products. Ellison also publically hinted at buying Apple when it was struggling in 1997.
