Apple Expands Mobile Phone Billing to Thailand and Chile

Apple has expanded mobile phone billing to additional countries and carriers, according to an updated support document on its website. As of this week, the feature is now supported by Movistar in Chile, and dtac and AIS in Thailand. Elsewhere, Vodafone and O2 has been added to the list of supporting carriers in Netherlands and Czech Republic, respectively. The payment method allows Apple customers to pay for iTunes Store content, App Store apps, iBooks, and Apple Music subscriptions without needing a debit or credit card, or even a bank account. Instead, purchases are added to a customer's mobile phone bill and paid off at the end of the month. The payment method is already offered by select carriers in Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Apple Shares New Photos of Its First Thai Retail Store, Opening Saturday in Bangkok

Apple has shared new photos of Apple Iconsiam, its first retail store in Thailand, due to open in Bangkok on the shores of the Chao Phraya on Saturday, November 10 at 10 a.m. local time. Sitting alongside storied sites and cultural landmarks, the store connects the new mixed-use Iconsiam Center to an outdoor roof terrace. Apple says the clean, trapezoidal lines and glass surfaces were designed "to accentuate the surrounding natural beauty while creating an open, airy atmosphere effacing boundaries between interior and exterior." The sweeping glass facades of the store look out to the river and the city, with customers able to ascend to the roof garden, where they can appreciate local art, participate in a Today at Apple photo or sketch walk, and enjoy iconic views of Bangkok. "Bangkok is a cultural and economic destination for the entire region and home to millions of passionate Apple customers," said Angela Ahrendts, Apple's senior vice president of Retail. "We are thrilled to introduce our Thai customers to Today at Apple, our full line of products, our phenomenal employees, and the service and support that are loved by customers around the world."More than 100 employees will be ready to welcome customers to Apple Iconsiam on Saturday at 10 a.m. As it has done with other stores, Apple is celebrating its first Thai store with special artwork and Today at Apple sessions, which customers can sign up for at apple.com/today.

Apple Stores in Thailand and Texas Planned for Grand Openings in November

Apple today provided updates on a few retail stores opening soon, including locations in Thailand and Texas (via Storeteller.de). In Thailand, Apple will open a store in the Iconsiam mall, which is described as a mixed-use development that will include two malls, multiple hotels, and residences when it opens on November 9. Apple Iconsiam will open one day later on November 10 at 10 a.m. local time. The new Bangkok location sits directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya river. This marks Apple's first retail store in Thailand, and its second in Southeast Asia, following its Singapore location that opened in May. The location has been under renovation since April, and when it opens in early November it will gain all of the modernization updates that Apple has been rolling out to many of its older retail locations. As a few other quick mentions, Apple will have two grand reopenings taking place tomorrow, October 26 in Tokyo and London. Apple to Open Retail Store in Bangkok as Confirmed by Job Listings

Apple has posted a series of job listings for a future retail store in Bangkok, Thailand, as spotted by local publication The Nation. Apple retail store in Brussels, Belgium The company is looking to fill the usual Creative, Expert, Genius, Manager, Store Leader, and Business Leader positions, among others, and applications for the two-year Apple Store Leader Program are also open. The location will be Apple's first retail store in Thailand, and its second in Southeast Asia, following its Singapore location that opened in May. In July, the Bangkok Post reported that the store will open in 2018 at the Iconsiam, a future mixed-use development with two shopping malls in Bangkok. The flagship location is said to have over 20,000 square feet of space. Apple continues to hire for retail stores in Vienna and Seoul as well, which will be the first in Austria and South Korea respectively. In related news, Apple has announced that its Woodfield store in Schaumburg, Illinois will be relocating to a new unit in the shopping mall on September 30. Apple's Thailand Website Honors King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Death

Apple has made its Thai website black and white to honor the death of Thailand's king Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away last week at the age of 88. Bhumibol Adulyadej had served as the ninth monarch of Thailand since 1946, making him the world's longest-serving head of state at the time of his death ahead of Queen Elizabeth II. The monochrome website reflects Thai citizens who have dressed in pure black or black and white to mourn the loss of Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was a highly revered figure in the country. iPhone 7 Arrives in More Countries Starting October 7

Apple has announced that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch in India on October 7 and in Macao, Macedonia, Malaysia, Montenegro, South Africa, and Turkey on October 14. The smartphones also launch in Ukraine on October 7, and in South Korea and Thailand on October 21, according to local news reports. In India, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available through online shops Flipkart, which began accepting pre-orders earlier today, and Infibeam. Pricing starts at Rs 60,000, with trade-in deals available. In South Africa, the smartphones will be available through Cell C, iStore, and select other carriers and resellers in the country. Apple Watch Launches in The Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand on July 17

As the Apple Watch goes on sale in Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan today, Apple has quietly announced that The Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand will begin selling the wrist-worn device on July 17. As with other countries, the Apple Watch should be available through the Apple Store, Apple Online Store and possibly select Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple has been slowly catching up on Apple Watch backorders dating back to the April pre-order window, with most models now shipping in 1-2 weeks or less on the Apple Online Store and in-store reservations now available. The 42mm Space Black Apple Watch with Link Bracelet remains one of the more difficult models to obtain, with an estimated 2-3 weeks delivery date on the Apple Online Store.
