Apple's all-new, foldable iPhone Duo comes in just two color options: Night Sky and Star White, so which should you choose?

Both combine a Ceramic Shield back with mirror-polished titanium, but the contrast between those materials gives each finish a different appearance. It is important to consider what case you plan to use, if any, and if not, the reflective frame deserves as much consideration as the color of the back.
Both colors are available at the same prices and in the same storage capacities, so neither finish requires you to compromise on your preferred configuration.
Night Sky
Night Sky is a very dark blue, with a muted blue-gray back and glossy blue titanium edges. It is comparable to Apple's Midnight finish.
If you normally buy black iPhones, this is the nearest option in the lineup, although you should be comfortable with the blue tint. If you like dark phones but would find a plain black finish uninteresting, this is a good compromise.
The dark camera lenses sit against a similarly dark camera plateau, making the individual cameras less prominent than on Star White. The back, plateau, and frame are all close in tone, giving the phone a relatively uniform look. It is the sleeker, more subtle option of the two.
Star White
Star White has a soft, slightly warm appearance, somewhere between Apple's pre-existing Silver and Starlight finishes. The rear glass takes on this color, while the titanium frame and hinge is bright and silvery. The distinction between the pale back and reflective frame is dramatically clearer than on Night Sky. If you like white iPhones with visible metal edges, this is the more familiar of the two options.
The camera plateau has a very different effect here. Its light surround emphasizes the two dark lenses and their silver metallic rings, making the camera arrangement a prominent feature of the back.
The polished frame is a particular reason to consider Star White without a case. It gives the phone a bright outline and accentuates the radical new design.
Which to Choose?
If you want a consistent, dark color across the whole device, Night Sky is the best choice. Its contrasting surface finishes produce interest, but the overall design is much more cohesive, subtle, and sleek than Star White.
Star White is the lighter, more eye-catching finish and is best to showcase the iPhone Duo's design, combining warm white, silver, and black components and finishes.
The iPhone Duo is now available to pre-order, with prices starting at $1,999 in the U.S. The device launches on Friday, October 23.
