'Slash Quest!' Arrives on Apple Arcade

New adventure game "Slash Quest!" landed today on Apple Arcade. Made by Green Pillow and Noodlecake Games, the title promises players plenty of "enemy chopping, puzzle solving, door unlocking, river crossing, fire setting, gear spinning," and more.

The Queen's evergrowing talking sword is lost in a faraway land. Luckily you showed up to wield it back to the castle. You do know how to swing a sword, right? Right?!

Forget your power fantasy. Slash Quest's simple yet unfamiliar controls will put you in the shoes of an unlikely knight with a big heart, an even bigger weapon, and absolutely zero skills. But worry not! Just like Shep and Swordie's friendship, before you know it everything will feel right and everyone will be counting on you to save the Queendom.

The gameplay hinges on a unique growing sword mechanic and customizable controls to take players through a storyline-driven 12 levels where they can look forward to several boss fights, dozens of side quests and challenges, upgradeable skills, collectible cosmic items, engaging mini games and Game Center Leaderboards integration.

As an ‌Apple Arcade‌ title, "Slash Quest!" is available across iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS and includes support for physical controllers.

There are now more than 125 games available on ‌Apple Arcade‌, with Apple adding new titles regularly. ‌‌Apple Arcade‌‌ is priced at $4.99 per month, and that price point allows the whole family to play games without ads or additional in-app purchases.

Looks pretty dreadful. Much the same as almost every other game on AA.
I would have to agree.

I wonder if that's the type of games that Apple expects us to play when Apple switches to ARM Macs ?

Very casual gaming. The games I play on my PC are very different than this game. I wonder if those types of games will ever make it after the ARM transition. Not complaining, these simple games can help pass the time when you have a few minutes to kill.

And here I was half thinking people woulf actually like this one in the comments. ? The only think I like is the colorful aesthetic... things look really vivid. Maybe some of the puzzles. The character designs are horrible and so generic these days. I hate that art style. I mena you see it in so many articles in the App Store (mac and iphone) it’s nauseating.

Apple has such a “boomer” vibe when it comes to these games and the Arcade. They have no clue what people actually want. .... I think it may be the subscription model doing this... they need a constant flow of (trashy, generic, time waster) games to keep it “fresh”.. Honestly, Apple should’ve gotten in contact with good, established (and good indie) video game devs and just invested into them and maybe have a “premium” section of the store for this new batch of games. “Revitalize” gaming on the app store that way, instead of with all this trash... (if devs from the game are reading this, sorry, just my opinion... I always value the work and effort you put into games, wether they turn out good or not)

I know not everyone likes Apple Arcade, but I really appreciate the simplistic (but well done) nature of these games. No they're not for hardcore gamers, but those people are in the minority anyways. I enjoy games that are easy to pickup and play for as little or as long as you want that aren't setup to constantly try to sell you credits to upgrade and extend your gameplay like all the freemium garbage out there.

Personally I'm always glad to see a game mechanic that hasn't been done 100x, and Arcade tends to grab interesting designs. (and a lot of puzzle adventures)

No Way Home, What the Golf, Creaks, Roundguard, Pinball Wizrd, Bleak Sword, Skyfish2... all worth checking out on an Arcade trial.
What the Golf is genius! I had so much fun with that one.
