Will My Mac Run macOS Sonoma?
macOS Sonoma, Apple's latest operating system for Macs, is launching in the fall of 2023, but it's important to know that macOS Sonoma drops support for a handful of Mac models compared to the previous macOS Ventura.

macOS Sonoma officially drops support for the following Macs (earlier models than those shown are also not supported):
- 2017 MacBook Pro
- 2017 iMac
- 2017 MacBook (12-Inch)
macOS Sonoma remains compatible with the following Macs:
- MacBook Pro: 2018 and later
- MacBook Air: 2018 and later
- Mac mini: 2018 and later
- iMac: 2019 and later
- iMac Pro: 2017
- Mac Studio: 2022 and later
- Mac Pro: 2019 and later
If your Mac doesn't appear in the second list, macOS Sonoma does not officially support it and the software upgrade will not appear in Settings -> General -> Software Update when it becomes available in the fall.
