So I ended up getting the ATV 4K. Was delivered a few hours ago.
I do feel a slight a performance boost in app loading times and navigating within apps. HDR looks better. (Have no idea why yet). Definitely not a placebo effect. Youtube app can play higher quality. It take advantage of wifi 6. Speed tests are slightly faster. Not speaking of wifi 6e though.
I was happy with the previous remote, but the new remote is good as well. The options to swipe or click is a plus. My only real gripe about the new remote is the clicking is loud.
As far as the sound goes, it's just playing through my TV speakers. But I plan on getting a pair of HomePod minis for sound. I heard they work well.
I moved my older ATV 4K to my desktop monitor which has picture in picture.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't snap up an Apple TV 4K at this price?
What could updated hardware possibly offer? a FindMy-capable Remote? Anything else?
8K video, 4K120 video, and WiFi 6e is all I can think of. It already has HDMI 2.1 and Thread support for Matter/HomeKit.
EDIT: I did think of some other things, such as UWB support and potential lossless audio with upcoming AirPods Pro 2. There's also HDR10+ for Samsung TV's. Perhaps Bluetooth 5.3 support for more advanced audio.
Ya missed the best Apple deal ... $100 off Apple Series 7 watches at Walmart ... 41mm is down from $399 to $299, 45mm is down from $429 to $329. I picked up my first Apple Watch.
