But honestly I think the mag safe/fast charging thing is a secret weapon...
Still trying to figure out what the advantage of this new Magsafe is. You'll need both hands to remove the phone from the charger. Then why not use the Lightning cable and have faster charging than any inductive charger could provide?

Yeah I thought the same! On the products that you can buy, the two tiers of phones do not seem that differentiated from each other. My thought is maybe the iPhone 12 looks so good this year Apple might lose some 12 Pro sales, all OLED, all 5G etc. I Feel like pro-motion in the flagship devices might have given a little more differentiation & a bigger reason to spend more $$$. My X needs an upgrade & I'll probably just go for the standard model.

Gotta admit: it's a pretty cool ad :D

I'm sticking to the 11 Pro this year, but I got to say despite being leaked to death it has some nice new features and "cool factor" indeed. 128GB starting model is also a good move, but I noticed it's only for Pro models? It wasn't without some corporate big talk again, like "OMG 10 bazillion computations per nanosecond" like anyone except Phil Schiller is interested in numbers for the sake of numbers.

There are some things I'd like to know from use in the wild:
- 4x increased glass toughness is awesome, what about scratchability? That's been way more of a daily issue and worry than high altitude drops.
- Durability of frame materials (5 slate might have been the best design ever, but those nicks and dents..)
- Hope the antenna lines on the frame do not risk another "holding it wrong" situation
- Battery life
- Retina XDR whatnot compared to 11 Pro displays?
- Magsafe performance and heat management on warmer days

Typical wishlist to be deferred to next year:
- TouchID wake button
- ProMotion
- KILL THE NOTCH WITH A SWINGING SLEDGEHAMMER THROW

Can anyone identify this snap-on wrist band in the iPhone 12 ad, 1 minute in? Seemed weirdly prominent, but no such accessory was announced. ?

Apple usually knocks it outta the park with their ads but that iPhone 12 ad felt a little dystopian for me. It’s just a bunch of people weirdly entranced by their screens. Feels like a departure from the feel-good vibes that have become a staple in Apple ads.

My thoughts too. With my current QI charger I just pick up my phone and stick it in my pocket. With magsafe, I'm going to be picking it up without thinking, yanking the cable as the charger gets pulled off the back of my phone and drops to the floor, only to be saved by another yank on the cable.
