TiVo Announces 'TiVo Premiere' Application for iPad

TiVo today announced a forthcoming free application for the iPad that will allow users of the company's Premiere and Premiere XL set-top DVR boxes to control a wide array of functions directly from their iPads.

The TiVo Premiere App for iPad includes:

- Gesture based control -- Take complete control of all recordings, even dragging forward and back through a show with a simple tap or swipe
- Start watching what you want -- Launch a recorded show, live TV or streaming video with the swipe of a finger
- Program guide -- Browse your full-screen TV program guide without interrupting TV viewing
- Schedule -- Schedule one-time recordings and Season Pass recordings from the device at home or on-the-go
- Get more from your shows and movies -- Explore cast and crew and other recommendations of your favorite shows without interrupting the big screen
- Search -- Search for all of your favorite TV shows, movies, actors or directors across both broadcast and broadband from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, and more
- Share comments with your friends -- From within the TiVo Premiere App, comment and share your thoughts to Facebook or Twitter about the show you are currently watching

The free TiVo Premiere application for iPad will be available "in the coming weeks".

This is stupid. Make an app that will allow me to stream to my device within my wireless network at home at least. I can send to the other TiVo in my house. How about transferring to the iPad or an iPhone without the need to use the computer as an intermediary? I'll pay for that app.

disappointed that TivoHD users like myself get shafted ( and hell I've been a tivo owner since series 1 )

but that App is way better than Apple's airplay app ( of course it' doesn't stream I realize that, but I mean UI )

I am incredibly disappointed at TiVo right now. They are so slow and sluggish to get anything done and in the end its seems half asses.

- They only created this app as a release to Comcasts new iPad app. Even though customers have been screaming for it for years. (Meaning even an iPhone app)
- They screw over most of their customers by only making it for the newest TiVo. So happy that not only did I pay $300 for a TiVo HD, I have to pay $12 a month *AND* I have to have ads on the main screen ?!

To make things worse the TiVo Netflix app SUCKS. Most of the content sounds like chipmonks. I played a sample video to them on the phone and the guy says its fine, nothing wrong with it. Sure, maybe if you are deaf. Then of course, they said if there is a problem talk to Netflix. Netflix says its TiVos fault.

This news might be the last straw for me. I am NOT a happy customer right now.
