An anonymous submission notes the existance of the domain name - which is owned by Apple.

It appears the domain was owned by a 3rd party up until at least April 02 2001. It's unclear when Apple acquired this domain name.

The same submission claims that AOL Beta 9 uses Quicktime. (ed note: I'm not aware of the signficance of this if there is any at all)
