iPad Hungry Hungry Hippos and Other April Fools for 2012
It's April 1st again -- also known as April Fools' Day. Today also represents Apple's 36th anniversary, having been founded on this day in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
Here are a couple of the more ambitious pranks floating around the internet today:
Hungry Hungry Hippos for iPad
ThinkGeek has introduced a modernized version of the classic Hungry Hungry Hippos game for the iPad, but now with "capacitive-padded heads."
Readers will remember that ThinkGeek first introduced the iCade as an April Fools prank that later became a shipping product.
Google Maps for NES
Google has created an 8-bit version of Google Maps for the NES platform - a cartridge based game console from the 1980s.

So, just so we're clear, the Hungry Hungry Hippos iPad game doesn't exist? :o :(
It was one of my favorite games as a kid, and the iPad version looks kind of fun, if only for the novelty. :D

The Google maps prank probably took a lot of work to accomplish. If you go into street view, everything was 8-bitified. That's sick. They must really have some Javascript wizards over at Google. :)

So, if Google Maps is calling this 'Quest' mode are they making fun of MapQuest?
Also, on Google Maps, Get Directions options they need to change 'Avoid Tolls' to 'Avoid Trolls'.

If you're running the Safari plugin Adblock they're showing pictures of cats instead of grayed out areas where ads were.
