Developers can download the tvOS 16.2 beta by downloading a profile onto the Apple TV using Xcode. Today's update adds the Apple Music Sing karaoke feature for the third-generation ‌Apple TV‌ 4K, which Apple announced earlier this week.

tvOS updates are often minor in scale, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes, but there are some noteworthy features in the tvOS 16.2 update. It adds support for the new Home app architecture, which is designed to make Home setups faster and more reliable.

tvOS 16.2 also adds a new Siri voice recognition feature, allowing the ‌Apple TV‌ to recognize each person in the household by voice, swapping over to the appropriate profile. This makes it easier to switch between ‌Apple TV‌ users, getting to the correct music, TV shows, recommendations, and more. Voice recognition supports up to six family members.

That would be really cool!
It's something I've asked for for a while. If you can set a homepod as a default speaker, how come you can't activate the update of the home pod with the same device? Also, I've always been confused by the navigation of the Home App and where to initiate the updates so if it was on the Apple TV, it might be easier.

Has anyone ever succeeded in talking to the remote and actually getting the show you wanted? Every time I try I’m surprised all over again how bad it is, but that’s siri on all platforms I guess.

Maybe I’m missing something, genuinely curious if anyone uses it successfully.

When is Apple going to fix the Podcasts app on ATV to not work like ****. It is never synced properly with my other devices & is much more kludgy in use. Terrible.

Never mind integrating Podcast 2.0 features, which Apple has not done across the board...
