Everything New in iOS 16.2 Beta 2: 5G in India, Medication Widget and More

Apple today released the second betas of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 to developers for testing purposes, with the update tweaking some features and addressing some bugs that were discovered in the first beta.

iOS 16
We've outlined all of the changes found in the second betas of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 in this article.

Lock Screen Camera Bug Fix

Apple has fixed an annoying bug that did not allow you to exit out of the Lock Screen camera with a swipe. The swipe gesture has been re-enabled, so it is no longer necessary to lock the iPhone to get out of the Camera interface if it is accessed from the Lock Screen.

5G Connectivity in India

The second beta of iOS 16.2 adds 5G support in India for select carriers including Airtel and Jio. Users in India who are running the beta and who use supported carriers can connect to 5G networks.

Medication Widget

The first beta of iOS 16.2 added a Sleep widget, and the second beta adds a Medication widget. There are two options, one that is a single pill icon and a second that lets you know when you need to take a medication. It will alert you if all your medications are logged or if you have no more medications for the day.

At least twice with 16.1, my iPhone 14 PM has somehow activated the Lock Screen camera while in my pocket. This is discovered when my leg starts to heat up.
One of the BIGGEST reasons I miss 3D Touch. I have somehow activated my flashlight while the phone is in my pocket too.

3D Touch wasn't perfect, but the touch + Force required to do those types of activations was a nice benefit.

Help me understand what the problem is so I can see if I can duplicate it.
If you activated the camera from the lock or home screen (button or swipe ), you couldn't close it without turning your screen off and back on. Swipe didn't do anything. Fixed with new beta.

It would be great if the Medication App / Widget could handle inventory levels / refill reminders too.

3D Touch was also far better for keyboard functions like text selection and moving the cursor. Tapping and holding the spacebar isn't a worthy substitute, there's a delay before reverting to the keyboard. So I've had times where I move the cursor and try typing but have to wait a millisecond.

I don't know if it was iOS 15 or earlier when I noticed, but tapping where I want to place my cursor works half of the time. Especially with line breaks, I'll try selecting line breaks and it selects the lines with text instead. Or when I want to hit the middle of a word to fix a typo, instead it goes to the end of a word.
