My partner has this thing and I don't think there is a more maddening product to have to use. I guess people who like these things know a trick I don't. I can barely operate a Mac with one of these paired with the tiny non-numeric key keyboard Apple ships. Good old numeric keyboard and mouse for me.

You can! The trackpad is worth much more than the mouse. Lots of people would give you their brand-new Magic Mouse for a used Magic Trackpad. Ask anyone who bought an iMac recently.

Good deal, everyone has a USB a socket somewhere and this lasts about 30 days between charges.
Not sure (model A1535) but mine last about 10 days between charges based on daily usage
