Apple Releases tvOS 15.3 for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K

Apple today released tvOS 15.3, the third major update to the tvOS operating system that first launched in September 2021. tvOS 15.3 comes more than a month after the launch of tvOS 15.2, an update that added support for Photos Memories, Apple Music Voice Plan, and new screen savers.

tvOS 15.3 can be downloaded over the air on the Apple TV through the Settings app by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates enabled will be upgraded to tvOS 15.3 automatically.

Apple's tvOS updates are typically more minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes, performance updates, and small tweaks rather than major outward-facing changes. There were no new features discovered in tvOS 15.3 during the beta testing process, so it's not yet clear what's included in the update.

Apple does not provide detailed release notes for its tvOS updates, but the company does offer some tvOS information through the tvOS support document.

I wonder if we will ever see something noticeable change with these tvOS updates?

Still no fix for the mess that is Dolby Atmos and eArc. ATV sleeps and you lose Atmos until restart.

Siri Remote 2 still lags for the volume buttons in tvOS 15.3.
Oh so that's a software issue?

I thought it was just due to the compacted chocolate that had built up under the volume button courtesy of my children ?

I'm all for bug fixes, but it would definitely be nice for Apple to do some tweaks and changes in aid of usability and overall 'niceness' on tvOS.

Don't get me wrong, tvOS seems the nicest place to relax – amongst the many options – when looking to be entertained, workout, view photos or listen to music & podcasts, but it would be good to know Apple are applying their focus here alongside more popular product lines. There's always room for improvement in software.

I like to see the tvOS have streaming stats without needing Xcode to unlock the developer menu. Also I see you can run a wifi speed test with a tvOS App now. see https://www.speedtest.net/apps/appletv
