Apple Debuts New 'Share Your Gifts' Holiday Ad

Apple this afternoon shared one of its iconic holiday ads, many of which have won awards and accolades in the past. This year's video, entitled "Share Your Gifts," is a three minute animated spot featuring music by 16-year-old songwriter Billie Eilish.

The ad features music written by a girl who keeps her creations secret, until they're let out into the world by her dog and enjoyed by everyone around her. The "Share Your Gifts" theme encourages Mac and iPad users to share their creativity with others.

Apple has also shared a behind the scenes video that highlights the making of the "Share Your Gifts" ad spot.

Several additional videos from the behind the scenes of the "Share Your Gifts" ad delve into how the people who worked on the spot use their devices to create content.

Apple's ad features a new Billie Eilish song that's being debuted in the spot, called "Come Out and Play." The new song is available via iTunes and on Apple Music.

No glowing Apple on the lid anymore. Sad times.

The iMac shown in the promo is clearly a 2009-2011 thick model, one that Apple wants everyone to believe is obsolete following the release of MacOS Mojave...

Yet they contradict themselves with their own promo video, and prove to us they intentionally dropped support so software would limit an otherwise capable Mac.

Do people tend to enjoy these sorta behind-the-scenes things? You know, that gives me an idea…

This ad did nothing for me. Nothing like the one from a few years ago with the kid using his iPhone to make a home movie of his family. Even the one with Andra Day and Stevie Wonder was better than this, last years sucked too.

Beautiful advert. The ironic thing is for the 3D animation, I guarantee it would have been done on a PC thanks to the lack of Nvidia support. I love the combination of CGI and physical models.

No use of Touch Bar, old model iMac, competing software. Is Apple trying to say, you don’t need latest or greatest from us to be productive?

ABSOLUTELY!
I noticed it instantly. Marketing is all about attention to detail. How the hell can Apple show a video with Adobe Premiere open - along with Google Chrome and Firefox on the bar but no icon of FCPX? I know that it's promoting iMac but not remotely professional to show her using rival products and saying how wonderful the whole experience is. Seriously this is really really bad on Apple's part! Some marketing person seriously needs to get fired over this.

The other ads were super. I loved the colour one.
