iPad 2 to Ship by End of February 2011?

Digitimes reports that Foxconn Electronics factories have recently been notified that they will ship Apple's next generation iPad within the next 100 days with initial shipments to reach 400,000-600,000 units.
The sources pointed out that the iPad 2 will ship as soon as the end of February in 2011. Apple originally planned to start mass production in January, but because the device's firmware is currently still in testing, Apple has been postponing the schedule. Since Foxconn's new plants in Chengdu are still in pilot production, iPad 2 will be mainly supplied by its Shenzhen plants, while the company's upstream component partners have all been notified of the shipments schedule.
A February launch would be consistent with rumors pegging the iPad revision in the first part of 2011. Other rumored features include a FaceTime camera, gyroscope, thinner form factor, better display and a USB connector.Top Rated Comments

USB connector is not happening.

Actually a mini-USB socket is a absolute given as the European Union mandated it as the standard recharging method on all cell phones. Of course just because the connector is there doesn't indicate USB functionality.

Too close to Christmas? You're talking about a company that until recently always announced major products 2 weeks after christmas (MWSF, first week of Jan).

Like you say.....mandated on all cell phones. And the iPad is NOT a cell phone. Even if it has 3G it still does not make phone calls.

You the man, Arn!
Sad that Apple isn't attending MWSF anymore. That was a "mecca" for me (from as young as 14), my Dad, and my older brother. We did it for years. After attending the last one 2 years ago, we were pretty sad.
Although a dedicated USB connector is not going to happen.
It's more Apple style to release a $49 dongle for "approved" accessories.
