Apple appears set to launch its own wearable accessory for the iPhone 17, according to a new leak that has surfaced ahead of Tuesday's September 9 event.
According to leaker Majin Bu, Apple is developing a "Crossbody Strap" accessory designed to work with the company's upcoming TechWoven cases for iPhone 17. The crossbody strap will reportedly have a flexible metal core and use magnetic attachment points, allowing users to easily connect and disconnect the accessory as needed.
Meanwhile, the TechWoven cases – replacing the discontinued FineWoven line – will feature small attachment holes in the bottom corners specifically for Apple's new strap.
The leak tallies with earlier rumors from Bu and fellow leaker DuanRui, who shared CAD drawings showing similar attachment points on alleged iPhone 17 Pro cases.
Presuming the rumours are accurate, it wouldn't be the first time Apple has courted wearable accessories for its gadgets. The AirPods Pro 2 charging case includes a lanyard cutout, and the fifth-generation iPod touch featured built-in attachment hardware for similar purposes.
With phone theft increasingly common and wearable tech gaining popularity among younger users, Apple's official crossbody solution could address both security and style concerns. The timing suggests the accessory will debut alongside the iPhone 17 lineup at Apple's "Awe dropping" event on Tuesday, September 9.
