Apple's Boot Camp Gains Precision Touchpad Driver Update and Bug Fixes

Apple today released an updated version of Boot Camp, the software that allows the Windows operating system to be run on Intel-based Macs. Boot Camp 6.1.19 includes updates to the Precision Touchpad driver, according to Apple's release notes, along with other bug fixes.

This is the second Boot Camp update that Apple has pushed out in the last week, with Boot Camp 6.1.16 released on August 22. That update introduced WiFi WPA3 support and fixed a Bluetooth driver issue that could occur when resuming from sleep or hibernation.

Boot Camp users can navigate to the Start menu in Windows and open the Apple Software Update app to install the new Boot Camp drivers.

Boot Camp is a feature that is only available on older Intel-based Macs. It is not compatible with Apple silicon Macs, and these machines are not able to run Windows without virtualization software.

Really curious why they're still updating it for Intel machines. I'm sure internally they have an Apple Silicon version ready to go, but Microsoft + Qualcomm is holding that back.
Because a lot of intel Macs are still some of the best Windows PCs out there... maybe

Funny how in the past I would run to download an update like this. Today, where I have a single boot camp instance in use for a certain purpose, it works...so there is no way I'm touching it with an update.

I hope so too but I have a feeling policy has changed at Apple. I don’t think they care at all about Windows anymore. I’m a little confused why they are even updating Boot Camp. They pretended it didn’t exist for the last several years. I have a feeling the team is being spun down and doing some last fixes before it is officially deprecated.

Apple must need to move their Intel Macs. There's no other reason they would continue to spend money on BC support. There's always a financial motive there.
The tricky part is that some people have been relying on Macs to run both macOS and Windows for nearly 15 years now. This is quite the blow to those who need both. If you need any sort of GPU performance, virtualization is not an option.
