Shipping estimates for all MacBook Air configurations have slipped to July 26 or later, with some custom configurations with upgraded specs shipping as late as August. When pre-orders first began, some configurations were available for delivery as early as July 15.

The new MacBook Air will also be available to purchase at select Apple Store locations around the world starting July 15, but availability will likely be limited to the standard configurations. Pricing for the new MacBook Air starts at $1,199 in the United States. The previous MacBook Air with the M1 chip remains available for $999.

Apple also made its USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable available to order in three new colors that match the new MacBook Air. The cable, priced at $49, is currently estimated for delivery between July 15 and July 19 in the United States.

Update: July 15 delivery is no longer available for any M2 MacBook Air configuration. This story has been updated accordingly.

Inexcusable that in 2022 that 16GB versions are all BTO.

Any casual user in the MacBook Air market should consider the M1 version first since it's $200 cheaper and wicked powerful compared to past (intel) Air configurations. But if you're someone who is concerned about performance then the M1 Pro or Max is still available to you rather than a standard M2. And nowadays with Cloud storage, a large SSD may not even be necessary for most casual users.

Did the 16/512 for speed/longevity. Did not appreciate where that took the price! I am pretending I lost $400 down a drain and paid the base price.

In my country there are only resellers, so no bto/cto models available, thus couldnt care less for delays given that its norm for us to be on long waiting list before even, say, 16 or 24GB versions are made available preconfigured, let alone shipped.

8/256 base version costs 1549€ and 10c 8/512 version goes for 1899€, its nuts. Oddly enough these are shown to be available for delivery in 10 days, at least at the moment.
8/256 for 1549€ and 8/512 for 1899€, what a rip off.

I do think that is stupid as well.
Also a 400.00 uplift to 24GB of ram is highway robbery, but I know this is Apple tax. Just wanted to vent
