iOS 16 Will Let Developers Create Live Lock Screen Notifications

Later this year, Apple will give developers the ability to create live lock screen notifications that it's calling "Live Activities."

ios 16 live activities
Live Activities are similar to widgets on the iPhone home screen, but instead, reside on the bottom of the Lock Screen and can display dynamic and real-time information. During WWDC, Apple showcased how Live Activities could be used to track how far an Uber ride is or scores for a current sports game.

Live Activities will be available to users via a software update later this year and will not ship with the initial release of iOS 16.

It will be great to have a live lock screen notification widget for the Uber app and other apps as well, such as sports

Uber used to have an app for the Apple Watch but they discontinued it. It was always great for this very purpose- to track your driver without having to open the Uber app

This is one of my favorite new additions to iOS - the ability to glance at the Home Screen to see a sports score, a delivery status, or the price of your favorite stock without needing to open the phone and launch an app is a great usability improvement for iPhone users.

It’s almost like apple is becoming more like android with them allowing more freedoms for individuals and developers. Expect every apple hardcore fan to revolt.

The projection is strong in this one
