2022 Mini-LED iMac Pro Could Launch in June

Apple's upcoming iMac Pro with a mini-LED display could launch in June, analyst Ross Young said today. Apple has been working on a larger-screened version of the ‌iMac‌ for months now, and if the June timeline is accurate, it could see a debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

iMac Pro 2022 27 and 24 iMac
Rumors originally suggested that the new ‌iMac‌ could launch in the spring, but Young in late January said that he was expecting a "summer" launch. At the time, Young claimed that panel shipments were expected to begin in June and that a launch could follow in August or September, but he appears to have moved his timeline up.

The 27-inch ‌iMac‌ will be sold alongside the 24-inch ‌iMac‌ as a higher-end version, and to bring it in line with the MacBook Pro, it could be called the ‌iMac‌ Pro. It will feature a mini-LED backlight, and Young today said that he expects it will have "around 1000 zones" and "over 4000 miniLEDs."

Along with a mini-LED display, the ‌iMac‌ is expected to feature a redesigned look and the same M1 Pro and M1 Max chips introduced in the 2021 ‌MacBook Pro‌ models.

Hopefully Apple revives either Target Display Mode or something similar so that this presumably high-quality monitor can continue to be used as a monitor when the computing guts seem "long in tooth" in only a few generations of Apple silicon.

I think about new A-series chips being shock & awe incredible at launch and then getting "long in tooth" only 2 or 3 years later. Why are M-series chips going to be different? If not, this monitor may have 10+ years in it while the M1 or M2 chip in its guts might have up to about half that life.

IMO, this needs some way to upgrade the tech guts or repurpose the monitor. I'm a long-term fan of iMac- even make my living mostly using one- but I would want to see that kind of utility in the next one. Else Mini or Pro Jr is MY next Mac.

I am not sure wanting a 27" monitor makes me a PRO user. I just want a larger screen. Since Apple doesn't make monitors, the iMac is a nice way to get a quality monitor with a computer inside.

2012-2022: 5K display you mostly couldn’t get anywhere else (at a decent price) if you wanted to build a comparable PC

2022-20xx : 5K miniLED display you mostly can’t get anywhere else at a reasonable price

27” iMac = a unique value proposition for 10 years and counting

Meanwhile some PC users are still debating 1080p vs 1440p vs 4K.

you might want to check the Apple XDR display, last time I checked it can be used as a monitor ...
Are you going to give me the $$$ for it? That is hardly a reasonable price for a consumer monitor. The iMac is a consumer computer. Making a 27" monitor doesn't make it a PRO computer. There are a lot of people who just want a reasonably priced iMac with a larger monitor. 3" makes a difference — any man will confirm this. ;)

They should have said Apple doesn't make monitors that cost less than 4 imacs.

Thank you for the confirmation Ross Young. He has been saying that iMac will be released in the summer for a long time now. Perhaps we might see "One More Thing" in WWDC? Finally a hardware?
