Apple Releases tvOS 15.2 for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K

Apple today released tvOS 15.2, the second major update to the tvOS operating system that first launched in September 2021. tvOS 15.2 comes more than a month after the launch of tvOS 15.1, an update that introduced SharePlay support.

tvOS 15.2 can be downloaded over the air on the Apple TV through the Settings app by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates enabled will be upgraded to tvOS 15.2 automatically.

Apple's tvOS updates are typically minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes, performance updates, and small tweaks rather than major outward-facing changes. We found no new features in tvOS 15.2 during the beta testing process, so it's not yet clear what's included in the update.

Apple does not provide detailed release notes for its tvOS updates, but it does offer some tvOS details through its tvOS support document.

It’s the most sizeable set of release notes for tvOS I’ve seen in a long time!

Well, we know it will never have 120hz mode At least in 4K+. I will stop looking for it. Still one of the biggest F-ups for the ATV division ever. Stood there on stage and touted the 120hz mode. Their SECOND go-around at a 4k AppleTV device. Only to later bury it after they discovered their own engineers put the wrong chip in it. Good job.
Actually they never mentioned 120 Hz at the presentation. Those were just rumors based on strings that were found in beta releases of tvOS.

Also, what do you mean by "4K+"? The Apple TV hardware does not support a "+", nor was that ever promised.

I'm noticing a new "feature" where my Apple TV is now alerting me that my AirPod Pros are periodically connecting and disconnecting when they are both in the case and the case is shut.

There are two things I hope Apple does in the new year. The first thing is improve Apple Music. The second thing is look at TVOS and come up with ways to improve it and update the look because it's really boring. Maybe I just want change for the sake of change, but the software itself is probably one of my least favorite things about Apple TV.

Well, we know it will never have 120hz (HFR) mode At least in 4K+ (HDR/DVision). I will stop looking for it. Still one of the biggest F-ups for the ATV division ever. Stood there on stage and touted the 120hz mode. Their SECOND go-around at a 4k AppleTV device. Only to later bury it after they discovered their own engineers put the wrong chip in it. Good job.

Another quick check.....still no HDR for YouTube or YouTubeTV app. Content matching being totally on still kills Photos being able to play 4K+ content properly. Which, if it ever works as it's supposed to, is why 120hz mode is so important. As 120 divides frame rates evenly in to 24, 30, and 60.

ANYWAY....
