With iOS 18 Jumping to iOS 26, Will Apple Renumber iPhones Too?

Thursday May 29, 2025 1:59 pm PDT by
With the next-generation version of iOS and other 2025 software updates, Apple is planning to change its numbering scheme. Rather than iOS 19, which would logically follow iOS 18, Apple is instead going to call the update iOS 26. Apple plans to use 26 across all of its platforms (the number representing the upcoming year), which will presumably be less confusing than having iOS 19, macOS 16,...

That cinematic blur is just awful. (2:16) It makes me laugh how ****** is. Calling this cinematic? and fullhd only? This is for kids.
Yeah, and some of those children will be those who are going to be experimenting, creating, practicing and eventually becoming the next generation of cinematic storytellers. All because of Apple bringing powerful technology for everyone.

I'm glad we have Apple in artists' corner.

"So how was the wedding?"

"Fine, but the photographer there was super bizarre. Like, he kept looking into the middle distance and talking to himself about how amazing his camera was, but it was just an iPhone. Plus, he walked backwards everywhere."

camera camera camera, all are crappy and most people don’t give a thing about focus pull. however is serous about video doesn’t use a phone.
What we need is to get rid of that stupid notch at the top of the display. How many more years we need to wait for that? The competition is making foldable display and Apple can’t even get a full display coverage without the notch. And when it comes to specs they only selectively point out things. We want to know what the amount of ram is inside compared with last year’s phones. Same display as last year except for higher refresh rates which again most people don’t care. And new colors, how stupid apple think consumers are?
Apple: if you don’t have a new phone you don’t need to repackage to release it every year. It would be more ethical to enable some of these features in iOS updates and bring a substantially better phone next year
All are crappy? Did Apple suddenly downgrade them on the 13; because I've been shooting with an iPhone exclusively for at least five years, and that's not my assessment.

Whoever’s serous about camera and video doesn’t use an iPhone to make videos
That's a very elitist perspective. There are different levels of "serious" when it comes to video - it's not black and white. The capabilities of these phones have come a long way since 2007 you know.
