Apple Stops Signing iOS 13.7 After Releasing iOS 14, Downgrading No Longer Possible

Following the release of iOS 14 last Wednesday, Apple has stopped signing iOS 13.7, which means downgrading to iOS 13 after upgrading to iOS 14 is no longer possible.

iOS 13
Apple routinely stops signing older versions of software updates after new releases come out in order to encourage customers to keep their operating systems up to date.

As of Monday, iOS 14 was installed on approximately 26 percent of active iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, and earlier today, the first jailbreak for iOS 14 devices was released. The jailbreak only works with devices that have an A9 chip and earlier because of new security mitigations put in place by Apple.

iOS 14 is the current publicly available version of iOS that people can download, but there's also a version of iOS 14.2 that has been provided to developers and public beta testers. iOS 14.2 introduces a new Shazam Music Recognition feature for the Control Center, while also bringing some other Apple Music-related Control Center tweaks.

I still think that stopping downgrading should be stopped. It cost me over 40 apps as Apple forced me away from IOS 10.
This is something there should be a lawsuit about.

The inability to install of run older versions of ios (for software incompatibility, etc) is one of the worst parts about ios/ipados

I am afraid that macos is going to go the same way after the ARM / apple silicon transition.

Hot damn! Apple is so confident on iOS 14. But so far it’s been stable and fine though. One of the best iOS release for years. It’s even stable on beta.

I may be alone - but I dislike apples policy on this. I am the "first" to update to a new system because I want the new features. But now - on an old iPad Air given to my children to use as a "tv" I´d love to revert to an earlier system as I believe it would speed up the device. My kids don't need all the features added in the updates I installed. They'd want to be able to have a device that reacts on finger input and plays videos. that's it.

I just apple gave me a choice to decide if I am willing to take the potential security risks by going back to an older version with missing security updates...
