International Carriers Releasing iPad 3G Data Plan Pricing [UPDATED]
As the iPad becomes available for pre-order in several countries today, more carriers are providing details on 3G data plans specifically for the new device. Apple recently announced that the iPad will be available starting on May 28 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Last week, Orange UK had announced its pricing, offering daily, weekly, and monthly options for 3G iPad users. Another UK carrier, O2, has now announced its iPad data plan pricing and while a weekly plan is not offered, free Wi-Fi is included in all plans and users will have the option to add data on as needed to avoid overage charges.

Though information is not yet available on its own website, Canada's Rogers iPad data plan plan pricing is shown on the Apple Canada site. Rogers will offer only monthly plans plus the ability to add an iPad to an existing data plan:

Update: Readers have pointed out that the $20 iPad add-on feature was published by Apple in error and will not actually be available. A Rogers Community Manager confirmed that this was a mistake via Twitter and additional information is now available on the company's official blog.
Links to information on iPad 3G data plans can be found on the Apple store site for each respective country where the iPad will be available starting May 28. Not all carriers listed on these pages have provided detailed pricing yet.
- Germany - O2, Vodafone, and T-Mobile
- France - Orange and SFR
- Italy - Vodafone and 3
- Japan - Softbank
- Spain - Orange, Vodafone, and Telefonica
- Switzerland - Swisscom and Orange

Canada is not as terrible as it could have been. As long as it stays contract free, they might have me...

Ive been paying the 6GB unlimited since its inception.
Ive never gone over 1.1GB in a month :p
I dont think Its worth paying an extra 20 just to add.
When if I do (buy an iPad), Ill see what their offers are.
They seem to change their tune when you actually talk to a sales rep.

Yea, $20 to add is insane, especially if it doesn't come with any extra data in your bucket. They could at least throw in a token few gigs to appease.

Can I just clear up something in case I'm being retarded.
If I just buy a Wifi only iPad, can I not pay TheCloud for PAYG one-off time, and connect to that in an area that supports 'The Cloud'.
I don't see how the 3G is beneficial apart from that fact that you can be 'always connected' via cellular signal.

I wish they could just give it for free for a year to all 6GB users :) I think I have a year left. If they give me a hard time, Ill run the contract out and move on.27 months ago
Anyone notice it doesn't say $20/month. Just $20...
Wishful thinking?
Good point, Rogers should hurry and update their awful site.

UK carriers should consider a 500MB or less option that last a month.
In fact I like that O2 came out with a £10/1GB plan instead of a weekly, it make more sense and at the moment with this choice I would prefer it over Orange.
I want to see Vodafone now, they are the only one with the 7.2 instead of 3.6Mbps.

I was hoping this is a one time fee.
This is retarded. You pay for a service that provides DATA, it should be independent on the numebr of devices you chose to have it on. If i want a 3G enabled netbook, a different tablet and another second phone, why the hell do I have to pay for separate plans. My plan should not be tied to my device it should be separate and allowed to move from one device to the next.
I am writing the Canadian Government on this issue immediately since it is retarded. We are getting ripped off. They gave me 6Gb a month let me use it how I wish rather than stickin it to me twice. BS, thats what this is
