LCD Panel Supplier for Apple Netbook Product Selected?
That description seems pretty broad as to what kind of device Apple is actually coming out with. Both netbook and tablet possibilities have been the topic of speculation for months. Some sort of hybrid touchscreen netbook has also been described which seems most consistent with the circulating rumors.
Despite all the buzz surrounding this device, most rumors don't pinpoint its release until late 2009 or early 2010.

Too late. I'll invest in a DELL Mini 9 or 10v and Hackintosh it before I wait this long for Apple to get off their duffs and join the Netbook community.

So, Apple's plan is to rebrand the Macbook as a Pro (FW please in this 13" revision Apple) and then make the new netbook and the white plastic Macbook both Macbooks?
now i could live with that. hope it happens at wwdc though, or at least announced then

pffffff. good luck with that. The best 'netbook' out there is the MacBook Air. I love mine. The rest are poor quality with poor user experiences.
open the platform up to developers and now you have a more expensive but still convenient app store ready at launch with some basic games ported over and adobe showing you how you can draw on it (bye bye wacom).

Agreed. But Apple priced the Air a little too far on the premium side. I'm all for Apple's pricing practices (which make perfect sense), but the Air is a bit too pricey. It's the most forward-thinking non-notebook notebook (I think "netbook" at this point is a pejorative) out there, however. The ideas it employs are very progressive, and it got there before anyone else did. Perhaps Apple was worried that the sexiness of the Air would have cut into their Macbook/MBP sales at the time. In any case, the Air is high on my shopping list should this rumoured netbook not quite pan out for me.
