Battery life capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro models leaked this week, and on paper at least, the gains year-over-year look pretty modest.

Chinese Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station says Apple is testing different battery sizes for different regions, similar to what it did with the iPhone 17 Pro. The U.S. model is likely to feature the larger battery of the two because Apple doesn't have to accommodate the physical SIM card slot. Elsewhere, in China, iPhones still have the slot, so they have less internal space to work with.
The China model reportedly holds around 4,056 mAh, while the U.S. version comes in at around 4,288 mAh – up about 68 mAh (1.7%) and 36 mAh (0.8%) over last year's iPhone 17 Pro model.
It's worth noting that the space saving alone is unlikely to be the biggest factor when it comes to battery life. Efficiency – or how economically the iPhone uses that power – is probably going to be the bigger factor. The iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to get a new, faster A20 Pro chip and a next-generation Apple-made C2 modem, both of which are expected to draw less energy without compromising performance.
That said, leaker Digital Chat Station previously said the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery capacity could tip over the 5,000 mAh range, so the larger model may still see a more noticeable jump based purely on physical battery size.
For now, we're treating the numbers as unconfirmed until we see corroborating reports before the iPhone 18 Pro's launch, which is expected around mid-September.
