New M5 MacBook Pro Ships in Europe With a Surprising Omission
Apple's new base model 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip is available in Europe with what some customers will feel is a glaringly crucial omission: a charger.

The device ships without a power adapter in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, and other European countries. Meanwhile, customers in the U.S. and elsewhere still get the 70W USB-C Power Adapter included.
An Apple spokesperson told French website Numerama that the decision anticipates a European regulation requiring manufacturers to offer customers the option to buy devices without chargers, starting in April. Notably, the EU law allows companies to let customers choose whether to include a charger, but in this case Apple has opted to remove it entirely.
The box still includes a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable, so you'll only need to supply your own charging brick. In the U.K., Apple's 70W adapter costs £59.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro is €100 cheaper in some European markets, but pricing in the U.K. remains unchanged from the previous model.
