Apple Seeds Seventh Developer Betas of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26

Apple today provided developers with the seventh betas of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 for testing purposes, with the updates coming a week after Apple seeded the sixth betas.

iOS 26 Feature
Registered developers can download the new beta software using the Software Update section of the Settings app.

‌iOS 26‌ and ‌iPadOS 26‌ feature Apple's new Liquid Glass design aesthetic, with a focus on translucency and glass-like interface elements. The design extends to the Lock Screen, Home Screen, and Control Center, along with menus and buttons in apps.

Apple's software includes features for apps like Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, and Apple Music, along with new Apple Intelligence features, a revamp for CarPlay, and more. In ‌iPadOS 26‌, there's a whole new multitasking system that supports multiple app windows for a more Mac-like experience.

Am I speaking to Apple tech support here or something? Are you working for Apple? He started he’s overbloated speech with how much iOS 7 has changed, how “here we go again” and how it only happens once a decade, and you see THIS and defend it with all you can? Seriously? This is what it takes decade to ship? So that’s all we get after 12 years, and you’re happy with that. Federighi gets you warmed up with how they’re about to have the iOS 7 moment again, you get a new lockscreen font and animation and transparent icons and you’re happy. Why are you even testing the beta in the first place.

My point is, buddy, that now we have some aspects looking fresh and most aspects looking dated. It’s inconsistent, it’s a mess, and it’s definitely not a major redesign. 2013 release was a major redesign, this is not.
Everything you're complaining about and accusing Apple of is purely opinion and subjective to you, and probably to some others. I don't feel the same as you, and many more do not feel the same as you. I have been using iPads since the first iPad, iPhones since iPhone 4, iPods and iPod Touches since og iPod, and Macs since 1993. I have had my complaints, but have also been using my iPad Pro in place of a MBP since Nov. 2021 for all mobile work in my Real Estate and Property Management business. This has been imo the best, most useful, and forward looking update Apple has given the OS.

I am finding all the new features and tools so useful. I love the new windowing, especially when using an external monitor, keyboard, and magic trackpad. The only thing more I'd like for the external monitor support is the ability to set the external monitor as the default.

I find all the new features in the Files App very useful. I mean, I liked the previous version of Files App, but in my view it is even closer to Finder/Explorer than ever.

I really like the Camera and Pictures apps. I use the camera a lot for both personal and business, and really digging the new layout/ux.

I am very happy they added the Menu Bar and stoplight buttons. I like having all the menu features of an app available in the app.

I like the new windowing. Very flexible so you can do just about anything you want. I also like the preciseness of the new pointer when I'm using a trackpad.

I truly like iPad OS a lot. I have been just getting it and enjoying it for a long time now. Of course I have had my wishes along the way, but could always see the potential for the iPad. I don't miss my 2019 MBP that I replaced with my iPad Pro. In fact, I have just never looked back. I understand that some people either just don't get the iPad, want it to always just remain a consumption device, or just plain can't use it for all they need to. But, what some people need to understand is.....that there are many of us that do or can. It is my opinion that the iPad is the most flexible device that Apple has ever made. There are some important things that can be done with an iPad that a MacBook just can't do for me. On the other hand, my iPad covers all my needs for mobile computing.
