Well, maybe of the base model. I don't understand who'd want a 16" MBP with only 512GB SSD?! Looks like Apple overestimated the number of people buying these just for web browsing and checking email.
Huh? 512 GBs is a lot of space. If you using these laptops in professional environments, you are likely offloading to NAS or file server. Take a look at how YouTubers handle their video production and even post production. Anybody buying a Mac with 1 TB or more is in some cases the rare exception.

Sure, 12 years ago when you had a large local iTunes library and you ripped DVDs. The bulk media content such as music and videos is streamed. If you are taking lots of photos, you are likely backing them up to a cloud service.

My order of a 16" MBP Max still shows March 15 to 29. No improvement there.

Looks like there is a glut and not enough demand. When the M1 MacBook Pro launched it took nearly a year to see deals like this. The waiting game these days is your friend.
